Cerebral blood flow autoregulation during hypobaric hypotension assessed by laser Doppler scanning.

Hypobaric hypotension was used to reduce systemic blood pressure in rats below the lower threshold of CBF autoregulation to evaluate a new laser Doppler (LD) “scanning” technique. Spontaneously breathing male Wistar Kyoto rats (n = 8) were anesthetized with chloral hydrate and the head fixed in a stereotaxic head holder. A cranial window with intact dura mater was introduced to assess local CBF (lCBF) by LD. A novel compound heterozygous mutation in PYGM gene associated with McArdle’s disease

McArdle's disease is an autosomal recessive glycogenosis due to mutation in the myophosphorylase gene (PYGM) resulting in a pure myopathy. The clinical onset typically occurs in childhood with cramps, myalgia, and intolerance to physical exercise, although late onset forms are also reported. We describe a case of a 17-year-old male complaining of cramps and myalgia following brief and intense exercise. The patient reported marked improvement in muscle fatigability few minutes after starting aerobic exercise. Near-infrared radiative transfer modelling with different CH4 spectroscopic databases to retrieve atmospheric methane total amount

International audience; Atmospheric methane content can be retrieved from measurements of solar radiation attenuated by the atmosphere in the near infrared spectral region where the space-borne and ground-based spectrometers carry out regular measurements. Vacuum deposition methods are increasingly applied to the preparation of perovskite films and devices, in view of the possibility to prepare multilayer structures at low temperature. Vacuum-deposited, wide-bandgap solar cells based on mixed-cation and mixed-anion perovskites have been scarcely reported, due to the challenges associated with the multiple-source processing of perovskite thin films. The EXAFS data-analysis software package EDA consists of a suite of programs running under a Windows operating system environment that is designed to perform all steps of conventional EXAFS data analysis such as extraction of the XANES/EXAFS parts of the X-ray absorption coefficient, Fourier filtering and EXAFS fitting using the Gaussian and cumulant models. Amorphous polymorphis in ice investigated by inelastic neutron scattering

Abstract High-density Ilda and low-density Ilda amorphous have been investigated by inelastic neutron scattering (INS) with emphasis on the energy window from 0.5 to 20 meV. At variance with earlier measurements the spectra in the Ilda phase show a simple ω2 behaviour in the acoustic region and the temperature dependence is found to be harmonic. Ilda converts with a strongly temperature-dependent rate towards Ilda ice. We have investigated in detail the time evolution of both the static and dynamic response functions at several temperatures. Modeling of ITER TF cooling system through 2D thermal analyses and enthalpy balance

Abstract The winding pack of the ITER Toroidal Field (TF) coils is composed of 134 turns of Nb3Sn Cable in Conduit Conductor (CICCs) wound in 7 double pancakes and cooled by supercritical helium (He) at cryogenic temperature. The cooling of the Stainless Steel (SS) case supporting the winding pack is guaranteed by He circulation in 74 parallel channels. A 2D approach to compute the temperature distribution in the ITER TF winding pack is here proposed. A powerful route minimization heuristic for the vehicle routing problem with time windows

We suggest an efficient route minimization heuristic for the vehicle routing problem with time windows. The heuristic is based on the ejection pool, powerful insertion and guided local search strategies. Experimental results on the Gehring and Homberger's benchmarks demonstrate that our algorithm outperforms previous approaches and found 18 new best-known solutions.

A reliability-based design optimization problem under dynamic shakedown constraints for elastic perfectly plastic truss structures subjected to stochastic wind actions is presented. The simultaneous presence of quasi-static (cyclic) thermal loads is also considered.
