Sphalerite (ZnS) is an abundant ore mineral and an important carrier of elements such as Ge, Ga and In used in high-technology applications. In situ measurements of trace elements in natural sphalerite samples using LA-ICP-MS are hampered by a lack of homogenous matrix-matched sulfide reference materials available for calibration. The preparation of the MUL-ZnS1 calibration material containing the trace elements V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Ga, Ge, As, Se, Mo, Ag, Cd, In, Sn, Sb, Tl and Pb besides Zn, Fe and S is reported. Enhancing the luminescence efficiency of silicon-nanocrystals by interaction with H+ions

The emission of silicon nanocrystals (Si-NCs), synthesized by pulsed laser ablation in water, was investigated on varying the pH of the solution. These samples emit μs decaying orange photoluminescence (PL) associated with radiative recombination of quantum-confined excitons. Time-resolved spectra reveal that both the PL intensity and the lifetime increase by a factor of ∼20 when the pH decreases from 10 to 1 thus indicating that the emission quantum efficiency increases by inhibiting nonradiative decay rates. La presente investigación tiene como finalidad describir cómo la ciudadanía ha contribuido a la elaboración de un Diagnóstico Territorial de Empleo (DET) promovido por la Generalitat Valenciana, previo al diseño de futuras políticas públicas para el fomento del empleo, en tres municipios alicantinos. Oxidation of silicon nanoparticles produced by ns laser ablation in liquids

The investigation of nanoparticles produced by ns pulsed Nd:YAG laser ablation of silicon in liquids is reported. Combined characterization by morphological and structural techniques shows that these nanoparticles have a mean diameter of ~3 nm and a core-shell structure consisting of a Si-nanocrystal surrounded by a layer of oxidized Si. Time resolved luminescence spectra evidence visible and UV emissions: a broad band around 1.9 eV originates from Si-nanocrystals, while two bands centered at 2.7 eV and 4.4 eV are associated with oxygen deficient centers in the SiO2 shell.
