Calculations of organic-solvent dispersions of single-wall carbon nanotubes

The aqueous solubility Sw and 1-octanol–(Po), cyclohexane–(Pch), and chloroform–(Pcf) water partition coefficients are calculated. The properties of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNT) are related to the indices (n, m) designating the chiral vector. SWNTs are classified in zigzag (n, 0), armchair (n, n), and chiral (n, m). These properties permit classifying SWNTs according to (n, m). Correlations between (n2 + nm + m2)1/2, log Sw, log Po, log Pch, and log Pcf show that (n, m) are adequate indices. A chemically reactive ATP analogue, 6-[(3-carboxy-4-nitrophenyl)thio]-9-β-D-ribofuranosylpurine 5′-triphosphate (Nbs6ITP) has been synthesized. It has the ability to form stable thioether bonds between the 6-position of the purine ring and aliphatic mercapto groups. The nucleotide moiety of the reagent has been covalently bound to agarose, via iminobispropylamine and N-acetyl-homocysteine as spacer with the purpose of producing an affinity chromatography material. Hepatitis B surface antigen presentation and HLA-DRB1*– lessons from twins and peptide binding studies

Summary The aim of this study was to investigate the underlying mechanisms of the genetic association between certain HLA-DRB1* alleles and the immune response to HBsAg vaccination. Therefore, HBsAg peptide binding to HLA-DR molecules was measured in vitro by peptide binding ELISAs. Additionally, HBsAg-specific T cell reaction and cytokine profile of immune response were analysed ex vivo in ELISPOT assays and DR-restriction of T-cell proliferative responses was investigated with HBsAg specific T cell clones. Abstract Knowledge of the precise timing of SARS‐CoV‐2 infection may be of clinical and epidemiological relevance. The presence of low‐avidity IgGs has conventionally been considered an indicator of recent infection. Here, we carried out qualitative assessment of SARS‐CoV‐2‐specific antibody avidity using an urea (6M) dissociation test performed on a lateral flow immunochromatographic IgG/IgM device. Distinct patterns of heparin affinity chromatography VLDL1 and VLDL2 subfractions in the different dyslipidaemias

Very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) 1 and 2 were fractionated by heparin affinity chromatography into a bound and an unbound fraction and the different subfractions were quantified in 17 normolipidaemic (NL), 13 hypercholesterolaemic (HC), 10 hypertriglyceridaemic (HTG) and 11 combined hyperlipidaemic subjects (CHL). Unbound VLDL1 and VLDL2 were, respectively, 1.9- and 2.2-fold richer in triglycerides than bound VLDL1 and VLDL2. Hemoglobin is the versatile oxygen carrier in the blood of vertebrates and a key factor for adaptation to live in high altitudes. Several structural changes are known to account for increased oxygen affinity in hemoglobin of altitude adapted animals such as llama and barheaded goose. Guinea pigs are adapted to live in high altitudes in the Andes and consequently their hemoglobin has an increased oxygen affinity. Mepanipyrim haptens and antibodies with nanomolar affinity

Mepanipyrim is an anilinopyrimidine fungicide used worldwide for crop protection. With the aim of developing useful immunoreagents for mepanipyrim immunoanalysis, two new functionalized derivatives were prepared and antibodies were generated. Affinity and specificity were assessed by direct and indirect competitive ELISA using homologous and heterologous conjugates. Although all antibodies were selective for the target analyte, the immunizing hapten structure was revealed as a determinant for high-affinity antibody production (IC50 = 3 nM). © 2013 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
