AbstractThis paper studies the relative performance of domestic and foreign banks in the Latin American and Caribbean banking industry. Data Envelopment Analysis is used to compute technical efficiency scores for the years 2001 and 2013. Our main contribution is twofold. This paper assesses technical efficiency in the management of non‐performing loans (NPLs) in the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) banking industry. To that end, Data Envelopment Analysis techniques are employed with data from the years 2013 to 2016 on a sample of 307 LAC cooperative and commercial banks. La construcción de un conocimiento crítico compartido educativo requiere que se cumplan algunas condiciones. En primer lugar que exista un grupo de personas y colectivos que estén dispuestos a colaborar en debates y argumentos en relación con su profesión docente. También es preciso que la teoría crítica esté definida en relación con las tradiciones e innovaciones didácticas. Pero sobre todo es preciso que se establezca un diálogo entre la teoría y la práctica, en especial en las acciones e intenciones que se desarrollan en el sistema escolar. Este es la finalidad que busca el Geoforo desde hace cinco años.

One of the most outstanding figures of music criticism in the Spanish Restoration was José María Esperanza y Sola (1834-1905), active for thirty years, from the late 1860s until the end of the century. During this period, Esperanza collaborated in different periodical publications and, particularly, “La Ilustración Española y Americana”, from whose pages he informed about the most important musical events celebrated in Madrid, judged according to a conservative aesthetic criterion, opposed to any novelty that infringe the traditional music system. Comparing Different Estimation Methodologies of Regional GDPs in Latin American Countries

This chapter presents a survey of the different methods used to reconstitute long-run income estimations for the Latin American regions. The main purpose is to alert on potential biases derived from them. Although the bottom-up approaches based on the direct estimation of aggregate production, income or expenditure are the preferred option, they have barely been used. The main reason is that all of them are highly data-demanding. Instead, the indirect non-parametric approaches, combined sometimes with direct estimations for agriculture and extractive industries, have been the most recurrent way to estimate output.
