Hybrid Genetic Algorithms in Data Mining Applications

2009

Genetic algorithms (GAs) are a class of problem solving techniques which have been successfully applied to a wide variety of hard problems (Goldberg, 1989). In spite of conventional GAs are interesting approaches to several problems, in which they are able to obtain very good solutions, there exist cases in which the application of a conventional GA has shown poor results. Poor performance of GAs completely depends on the problem. In general, problems severely constrained or problems with difficult objective functions are hard to be optimized using GAs. Regarding the difficulty of a problem for a GA there is a well established theory. Traditionally, this has been studied for binary encoded …

Predicting Heuristic Search Performance with PageRank Centrality in Local Optima Networks

2015

Previous studies have used statistical analysis of fitness landscapes such as ruggedness and deceptiveness in order to predict the expected quality of heuristic search methods. Novel approaches for predicting the performance of heuristic search are based on the analysis of local optima networks (LONs). A LON is a compressed stochastic model of a fitness landscape's basin transitions. Recent literature has suggested using various LON network measurements as predictors for local search performance. In this study, we suggest PageRank centrality as a new measure for predicting the performance of heuristic search methods using local search. PageRank centrality is a variant of Eigenvector centrali…

Exploring Multiobjective Optimization for Multiview Clustering

2018

We present a new multiview clustering approach based on multiobjective optimization. In contrast to existing clustering algorithms based on multiobjective optimization, it is generally applicable to data represented by two or more views and does not require specifying the number of clusters a priori . The approach builds upon the search capability of a multiobjective simulated annealing based technique, AMOSA, as the underlying optimization technique. In the first version of the proposed approach, an internal cluster validity index is used to assess the quality of different partitionings obtained using different views. A new way of checking the compatibility of these different partitioning…

An optimization approach for efficient management of EV parking lots with batteries recharging facilities

2013

In this paper an optimization approach to devise efficient management strategies for Electric Vehicles parking lots is proposed. A Monte Carlo approach is used to evaluate the load consumption profile for groups of Electric Vehicles showing different features. The Monte Carlo approach allows to combine the different social and economical features affecting the commercial penetration of Electric Vehicles with the technical aspects. The basic feature to be assessed is the initial State Of Charge, which in turn depends on the distance travelled by the vehicle since the last recharge and thus by the usage of the vehicle (private, professional). The model is then used to optimize some objective …

In-situ annealing characterization of atomic-layer-deposited Al2O3 in N2, H2 and vacuum atmospheres

2019

Tarkista embargo, kun artikkeli julkaistu. Atomic-layer-deposited Al 2 O 3 films can be used for passivation, protective, and functional purposes in electronic devices. However, as-deposited, amorphous alumina is susceptible to chemical attack and corrosion during manufacturing and field-use. On the contrary, crystalline Al 2 O 3 is resistant against aggressive chemical treatments and corrosion. Here, high-temperature treatments in N 2 , H 2 , and vacuum were used to crystallize alumina which exhibited different crystalline phases. The annealing process was monitored continuously in situ by measuring the film temperature and surface reflectance to understand the crystallization kinetics. Ex…

Porphyrin Antenna-Enriched BODIPY–Thiophene Copolymer for Efficient Solar Cells

2018

International audience; Low bandgap A−π–D copolymer, P(BdP-DEHT), consisting of alternating BOronDIPYrromethene (BODIPY) and thiophene units bridged by ethynyl linkers, and its porphyrin-enriched analogue, P(BdP/Por-DEHT), were prepared, and their optical and electrochemical properties were studied. P(BdP-DEHT) exhibits strong absorption in the 500–800 nm range with an optical bandgap of 1.74 eV. On the basis of cyclic voltammetry, the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels are evaluated to be −5.40 and −3.66 eV, respectively. After the anchoring of zinc(II) porphyrin on the BODIPY unit, P(BdP/Por-DEHT) displays broadened absor…

Inverse simulated annealing: Improvements and application to amorphous InSb

2014

An improved inverse simulated annealing method is presented to determine the structure of complex disordered systems from first principles in agreement with available experimental data or desired predetermined target properties. The effectiveness of this method is demonstrated by revisiting the structure of amorphous InSb. The resulting network is mostly tetrahedral and in excellent agreement with available experimental data.

'Cold' crystallization in nanostructurized 80GeSe2-20Ga2Se3 glass

2015

International audience; 'Cold' crystallization in 80GeSe 2-20Ga 2 Se 3 chalcogenide glass nanostructurized due to thermal annealing at 380°C for 10, 25, 50, 80, and 100 h are probed with X-ray diffraction, atomic force, and scanning electron microscopy, as well as positron annihilation spectroscopy performed in positron annihilation lifetime and Doppler broadening of annihilation line modes. It is shown that changes in defect-related component in the fit of experimental positron lifetime spectra for nanocrystallized glasses testify in favor of structural fragmentation of larger free-volume entities into smaller ones. The effect of annealing temperature and time on synthesis of graphene thin films by rapid thermal annealing

2015

In this paper, we performed synthesis of graphene thin films by rapid thermal annealing (RTA) of thin nickel copper (Ni/Cu) layers deposited on spectroscopic graphite as a carbon source. Furthermore, we investigated the effect of annealing temperature and annealing time on formation and quality of synthesized graphene films. Raman spectroscopy study showed that annealing at lower temperatures results in formation of monolayer graphene films, while annealing at higher temperatures results in formation of multilayer graphene films. We used Raman mapping to determine the distribution of graphene sheets. Surface morphology of graphene thin films was investigated by atomic force microscopy and s…

Selective growth and optical properties of sputtered BaTiO3films

2000

we report the growth of BaTiO 3 thin films by standard Radio Frequency sputtering. Without any in situ or post annealing, these polycristalline films are oriented relative to the substrate even when it is amorphous. We show that this preferential orientation may be monitored using a DC Bias during the film growth. At room temperature, cubic films of (100) and (110) orientations have been achieved, on fused silica substrate. Some optical waveguiding properties of these films have been studied. The resulting film index is 2.26 and the optical step index at the substrate interface is sharp. This allows the use of standard RF sputtering techniques to monitor oriented BaTiO 3 films for linear op…
