SARS-CoV-2 is spreading worldwide, and is a pandemic virus that has infected almost 5 million individuals and causing 300.000 deaths, as of mid-May 2020. Because SARS-CoV-2 is a new virus in humans there are currently no vaccines, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) or even effective drugs available. Human convalescent plasma transfusion is an option for either prophylactic or therapeutic treatment of COVID-19 patients, but its administration to patients who are affected by severe pulmonary disease is associated with increased risk of transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI).

Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic cholestatic disorder with a presumed autoimmune aetiopathogenesis. We have recently described a novel organ-specific rat model of fibrosing cholangitis induced by intrabiliary administration of the hapten-reagent 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS) with similarities to human PSC. In the present report, we have evaluated the long-term outcome of TNBS-induced cholangitis in this model. Mild stenosis of the common bile duct of female Lewis rats (n = 18) was achieved by subtotal ligation and cholangitis induced by TNBS injection (50 mg/kg) into the dilated bile duct after a second laparotomy. To investigate the role of the nerve growth factor (NGF) in the endometriosis-associated innervation in the development of endometriosis- associated symptoms, 41 peritoneal fluid samples (PF) from patients with surgically and histologically proven endometriosis and 20 PF from patients with other gynecologic conditions were analyzed with Western blot and a novel in vitro model using dorsal root ganglia (DRG) to show neuronal outgrowth; endometrial cells also were analyzed. The aim of the study was to investigate the presence and distribution of the chromogranin A-derived peptide catestatin in the rat eye and trigeminal ganglion by immunofluorescence using an antibody which recognizes not only free catestatin but also larger fragments containing the sequence of catestatin. The results of 119 radioimmunoscintigraphies (RIS) in 113 patients with the 99mTc-labeled monoclonal anti-CEA-antibody BW 431/26 (Behring) have been analysed. The aim of our study was the estimation of the method's sensitivity and specificity under different aspects to find out for which indications and questions the 99mTc-RIS is useful. Colorectal primary tumours in 19 patients were scintigraphically detected with a sensitivity of 83% and a specificity of 100%; 3 out of 7 other tumour sites were localised correctly. 55 patients were examined during the follow-up of colorectal cancer. Background: The measurement of TSH receptor (TSHR) antibodies is warranted for diagnosis of Graves’ disease (GD). Objective: The performance, detection sensitivity, and specificity of 6 TSHR immunoassays were compared. Methods: Two bioassays and 4 binding assays (Kronus, Immulite, Kryptor, Dynex) were compared in a dilution study performed in patients with autoimmune thyroid disease.
