The Role of Architecture Evaluations in ICT-companies

2008

First published in the Proceedings of the 11th International HAAMAHA Conference, July 9-12, 2007, Poznan, Poland Architecture evaluation is a way to get answers to organisation’s information needs and problems relating to its business and ICT. Companies’ needs to move towards business value driven ICT-development and pressures to improve the costeffectiveness of ICT are some of the reasons for the increasing interest in the evaluations and measurements of architectures. However, the role and the meaning which architecture evaluation may have in companies is not clearly identified or defined. For example, needs and triggers for architectural evaluations do not seem to be identified in previo…

Quality Management Activities for Software Architecture and Software Architecture Process

2008

First published in the Proceedings of the IASTED International Conference on Software Engineering (SE 2007), February 13-15, 2007, Innsbruck, Austria Architecture processes are considerably new parts of organisations’ processes. These processes have the responsibility to aim at high quality and financially successful architectures. However, the activities which promote this aim are not clearly defined yet. This study reviews literature and practitioners’ experiences on quality management activities that could be suggested to promote the achievement of high quality software architectures and a good quality software architecture process. These activities are proposed to be taken into account …

ISTehnology – integrated Approach to IS Development and Benefits of its Using

2011

The system ISTechnology and benefits of its usage are analyzed in the paper. ISTechnology provides an integrated approach to business modeling and development of information systems. The system consists of a meta-model and applications. The meta-model enables defining of a platform independent business model of the organization. The applications provide the definition and interpretation of the business model. Interpretation of the business model provides functionality of the information system in the selected platform. The lessons learned confirm that the development and maintenance cost of information systems can be significantly reduced by use of the ISTechnology. The paper describes addi…

miMic

2016

miMic, a sonic analogue of paper and pencil is proposed: An augmented microphone for vocal and gestural sonic sketching. Vocalizations are classified and interpreted as instances of sound models, which the user can play with by vocal and gestural control. The physical device is based on a modified microphone, with embedded inertial sensors and buttons. Sound models can be selected by vocal imitations that are automatically classified, and each model is mapped to vocal and gestural features for real-time control. With miMic, the sound designer can explore a vast sonic space and quickly produce expressive sonic sketches, which may be turned into sound prototypes by further adjustment of model…

Web API development and integration for microservice functionality in web applications

2016

Pro gradu -työssä mallinnetaan ja kehitetään mallin mukainen toteutus mikropalvelu-arkkitehtuuriin perustuvasta laajennuksesta olemassaolevaan verkkosovellukseen, joka tutkimuksen mukaan mahdollistaa verkkosovelluksen loppukäyttäjien hyödyntämisen sovelluksen jatkokehittämisessä monoliittisen arkkitehtuurin sovelluksia joustavammin. Pääasiallinen taustateoria sisältää Participative Design ja Design Science -teorioita. This paper presents a model for web application programming interface (API) that uses the microservice architecture to enable and support end-user feature development. The study follows the design-science paradigm of information systems research. Participatory design stands as…
