New results on mesonic weak decay of p-shell Lambda-hypernuclei
2009
The FINUDA experiment performed a systematic study of the charged mesonic weak decay channel of $p$-shell $\Lambda$-hypernuclei. Negatively charged pion spectra from mesonic decay were measured with magnetic analysis for the first time for ${^{7}_{\Lambda}Li}$, ${^{9}_{\Lambda}Be}$, ${^{11}_{\Lambda}B}$ and ${^{15}_{\Lambda}N}$. The shape of the $\pi^{-}$ spectra was interpreted through a comparison with pion distorted wave calculations that take into account the structure of both hypernucleus and daughter nucleus. Branching ratios $\Gamma_{\pi^{-}}/\Gamma_{tot}$ were derived from the measured spectra and converted to $\pi^{-}$ decay rates $\Gamma_{\pi^{-}}$ by means of known or extrapolate…
Stochastic collision model approach to transport phenomena in quantum networks
2021
Abstract Noise-assisted transport phenomena highlight the nontrivial interplay between environmental effects and quantum coherence in achieving maximal efficiency. Due to the complexity of biochemical systems and their environments, effective open quantum system models capable of providing physical insights on the presence and role of quantum effects are highly needed. In this paper, we introduce a new approach that combines an effective quantum microscopic description with a classical stochastic one. Our stochastic collision model (SCM) describes both Markovian and non-Markovian dynamics without relying on the weak coupling assumption. We investigate the consequences of spatial and tempora…

Implantable collamer lens and femtosecond laser for myopia: comparison using an adaptive optics visual simulator.
2014
Purpose: To compare optical and visual quality of implantable collamer lens (ICL) implantation and femtosecond laser in situ keratomileusis (F-LASIK) for myopia. Methods: The CRX1 adaptive optics visual simulator (Imagine Eyes, Orsay, France) was used to simulate the wavefront aberration pattern after the two surgical procedures for -3-diopter (D) and -6-D myopia. Visual acuity at different contrasts and contrast sensitivities at 10, 20, and 25 cycles/degree (cpd) were measured for 3-mm and 5-mm pupils. The modulation transfer function (MTF) and point spread function (PSF) were calculated for 5-mm pupils. Results: F-LASIK MTF was worse than ICL MTF, which was close to diffraction-limited MT…
Efficiency of the microwave-assisted extraction of hydrocarbons and pesticides from sediments
1997
Abstract A mixture of toluene and water is proposed for the microwave-assisted extraction of organic pollutants, hydrocarbons and pesticides, from marine sediments. The effect of experimental conditions, such as microwave power and irradiation time, on the extraction of linear, unresolved and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons as well as PCBs and DDTs has been evaluated using real marine sediment samples. Values found by Soxhlet and ultrasonic extraction were employed to evaluate the efficiency of the microwave-assisted extraction. Analytical determinations were carried out by gas chromatography using FID, ECD and MS detectors. For 2 g of a dry sediment, an extraction time of 6 min with 10 ml…
MAVIE-Lab Sports: a mHealth for Injury Prevention and Risk Management in Sport
2018
International audience; Smart-phones technology and the development of mHealth (Mobile Health) applications offer an opportunity to design intervention tools to influence health behavior changes. The MAVIE-Lab is a mHealth application including a DSS (Desicion Support System) to assist in the personalized evaluation of HLIs (Home, Leisure and Sport Injuries) risk and to promote the adoption of prevention measures. MAVIE-Lab Sports will be the first module of the mobile application. The purpose of this PhD project is to improve a particular module of MAVIE-Lab, devoted to sports (MAVIE-Lab Sports), in different aspects: statistical modeling, design and ergonomics. It also aims to evaluate sy…
Aims vs. technology: Pedagogical view to the use of educational applications in safety critical contexts
2011
Interactive technology for education has formed into a relatively independent domain of research and development. Interactive technology is often seen as a context independent tool. However, we argue that education in different contexts may have so different and incommensurable aims that no single technology can be announced as good or bad per se in terms of learning. The development of educational application should not be based on the technology to be applied, but by careful analysis of learning aims. When formulated in an appropriate way, learning aims work as a relevant basis in all stages of the design process of an educational application. The formulation of aims is therefore critical…

CandidaDB: a genome database for Candida albicans pathogenomics.
2004
CandidaDB is accessible at http://genolist.pasteur.fr/CandidaDB.; International audience; CandidaDB is a database dedicated to the genome of the most prevalent systemic fungal pathogen of humans, Candida albicans. CandidaDB is based on an annotation of the Stanford Genome Technology Center C.albicans genome sequence data by the European Galar Fungail Consortium. CandidaDB Release 2.0 (June 2004) contains information pertaining to Assembly 19 of the genome of C.albicans strain SC5314. The current release contains 6244 annotated entries corresponding to 130 tRNA genes and 5917 protein-coding genes. For these, it provides tentative functional assignments along with numerous pre-run analyses th…
A proteomic approach to studying plant response to crenate broomrape (Orobanche crenata) in pea (Pisum sativum)
2004
Abstract Crenate broomrape ( Orobanche crenata ) is a parasitic plant that threatens legume production in Mediterranean areas. Pea ( Pisum sativum ) is severely affected, and only moderate levels of genetic resistance have so far been identified. In the present work we selected the most resistant accession available (Ps 624) and compared it with a susceptible (Messire) cultivar. Experiments were performed by using pot and Petri dish bioassays, showing little differences in the percentage of broomrape seed germination induced by both genotypes, but a significant hamper in the number of successfully installed tubercles and their developmental stage in the Ps 624 compared to Messire. The prote…
