Application of sequential injection analysis to pharmaceutical analysis.

2005

Sequential injection analysis is a well established tool for automation of pharmaceutical analysis. A short historical background of this technique is given as well as a brief discussion on the basic principles and potentials. The current applications of SIA in the pharmaceutical analysis are also described and discussed. The manifolds developed offer good analytical characteristics and are suitable for analysis of drug formulations, process analysis, drug-dissolution, drug-release testing and functional assays for screening potential drugs. The results obtained are in good agreement with those furnished by the application of the reference methods presented in the pharmacopoeias.

Privacy-preserving data allocation in decentralized online social networks

International audience; Distributed Online Social Networks (DOSNs) have been recently proposed as an alternative to centralized solutions to allow a major control of the users over their own data. Phytoplankton assemblages in twenty-one Sicilian reservoirs: relationships between species composition and environmental factors

Data collected in a limnological survey, carried out between 1987 and 1988 on 21 Sicilian reservoirs of varying trophic state, were ordinated using CANOCO 3.1 to generalise the way in which the structure of phytoplankton assemblage is conditioned by both physical and chemical variables. The results showed that in these man-made lakes, characterised by conspicuouswater-level fluctuations, the annual and interannual variability in the abundance and composition of phytoplankton may be strongly influenced by their peculiar hydraulic regimes rather than by nutrient availability. Microplastics (MPs) in the marine environment undergo complex weathering factors that can affect their ability to interact with different coexisting environmental contaminants (termed here co-contaminants). Effects of trophic and environmental conditions on the growth of Crassostrea gigas in culture

In order to study the possibility of exploiting protected marine areas, comparative data on the cultivation of the oyster Cassostrea gigas in the South Tyrrenian Sea are reported. The oysters were cultured at -7 and - 13 m on long lines linked to artificial reefs. The observations, made during a 12-month period, were of the chemical-physical and trophic properties of the water column and growth rates of the oysters. Temperature ranged between 19.81 ± 4.67°C at -7 m and 18.03 ± 3.03°C at - 13 m. Salinity showed typical Mediterranean values. The shallow seagrass system in Southern Mediterranean (Sicily, Italy): a large sink of organic matter available to upper consumers.

The effects of human activities related to salt production on the global complexity of a shallow hyperhaline system (Sicily, Italy) were investigated. This through monitoring dynamics of some physical, chemical and trophic factors recognised as main constraints for the origin of organic matter and its availability to apex consumers. The system was dominated by seagrass Ruppia cirrhosa and large stands of macroalga Chaetomorpha linum; isopods and gasteropods were the most abundant taxa among benthic organisms, while Aphanius fasciatus and Atherina boyeri represented up to 90% of all catch among the small resident fishes. Stable carbon isotope (δ13C) analysis was used in a fish-farming impacted Mediterranean area (the Gulf of Gaeta, Central Tyrrhenian) to determine the predominant carbon sources available to bivalve molluscs cultivated around fish cages.
