Flexural Behavior of Glass Beams with T and I Shape Cross Sections

2017

AbstractGlass beams having T or I cross sections can be obtained as glass panels or laminated glass (LG) panels assembled with polymer adhesives of different types, such as semirigid (silicones, mo...

Towards storage-stable high-content recycled tyre rubber modified bitumen

2018

The addition of crumb rubber particles as bitumen modifier can be currently considered as a well-established alternative to conventional polymers for bitumen modification. However, Recycle Tyre Rubber (RTR) modified binders still present drawbacks such as poor mix workability and hot storage stability. Within this study the authors try unlocking the full potential of devulcanised tyre rubber-heavy oils blend, named Liquid Rubber (LR), by exploring the possibility of tailoring recycled polymer modified bitumen with unconventional high-content of RTR and designed to overcome the above mentioned technological problems of RTR modified bitumen while keeping its advantages. Results show that LR-b…

Steel Fibres: Effective Way to Prevent Failure of the Concrete Bonded with FRP Sheets

2016

Although the efficiency of steel fibres for improving mechanical properties (cracking resistance and failure toughness) of the concrete has been broadly discussed in the literature, the number of studies dedicated to the fibre effect on structural behaviour of the externally bonded elements is limited. This experimental study investigates the influence of steel fibres on the failure character of concrete elements strengthened with external carbon fibre reinforced polymer sheets. The elements were subjected to different loading conditions. The test data of four ties and eight beams are presented. Different materials were used for the internal bar reinforcement: in addition to the conventiona…

Smart Micro-Grid Performance using Renewable Energy

2020

The aim of this research is to determine the performance of PV panels, wind turbines, battery storage and power imported from the grid to the system which will ensure a reliable energy supply, as well as the technical feasibility of a smart microgrid system. Indonesia’s renewable energy potential for electricity reaches 443 GW, where solar energy is the largest potential, namely 4.8 KWh m–2 or equivalent to 112 000 GWp, but only 10 MWp has been utilized. The most basic problem in this system, namely, the uncertainty of wind energy and solar energy, one of the most vital factors in the optimal size of a renewable energy-based smart microgrid system is the reliability of the system being buil…

Construction Guilds in Southern Italy and the Islands (15th-16th Centuries): Leadership and Rivalries

2020

In the South of Italy and the big islands, in counter-trend with respect to the rest of the peninsula, construction guilds know a renewed vitality between the last decades of 15th and the beginning of 16th centuries. Rules, prerogatives and operative modes are regulated by statutes, often undersigned by the masters included in the trade organization, mentioning also the other actors involved in the approval processes. The intertwining of these and other archival documents sometimes reveals the leading role played within the guild by masters that overcome the anonymity usually considered to be inherent in the corporate system. Comparing the rules and the boundaries among specific trades esta…

Dynamische kulturelle Prozesse. Peripherisierung und Entperipherisierung der Insel Rügen

2017

The flow of the communication and the flow of the medial communication take part in the processes of marginalization or centralization. The present construction of space and its actual classification is then introduced on grounds of testimonies of written words (the individual statements in letters, lyrics, journalism). This paper presents the progressing cultural marginalization of the Island landscape of Pomerania, and especially of the Island Rugen taking into account the three following phases: 1. Devaluation or evaluation of the north in the period of the Middle Ages and the early Modern Era in the context of the Christian mission and the Bible representation of order; 2. The beginning…
