Theoretical and Empirical Description of Phases in the Proving Processes of Undergraduates

2018

International audience; In the presented study we adopt a process-oriented perspective on proving in order to gain further insights into relevant actions and typical obstacles in undergraduates' approaches to proving. The primary aim is to theoretically and empirically describe different phases, understood as bunches of intentionally closely related actions of proving. Therefore, we suggest a theoretical model of the proving process and confirm empirically that it can be used as an analytical tool for proving approaches. Based on this model, several proving processes have been analysed. In this paper we present first findings regarding the contribution of each phase to proof construction as…

The state-of-the-art of collaborative technologies for initial vocational education : a systematic literature review

2018

Future workplaces require collaboration skills in which members of different work communities use technologies to solve complex problems. Vocational education and training (VET) programs need to meet the challenge to prepare students to be part of a competent workforce. Particularly initial vocational education is under pressure to develop learners’ collaboration skills and abilities. To date, however, no attempt has been made to perform a comprehensive review of the use of computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) technologies across different vocational education settings to account for contextual factors of VET. In this systematic review, 26 published studies …

Differential detection and quantification of cyclic AMP and other adenosine phosphates in live cell

2017

A new naphthol-based rhodamine derivative (NpRD) has been developed for the selective and differential detection of adenosine 3′,5′-cyclic monophosphate (cAMP) and adenosine phosphates (APs) (ATP, ADP, and AMP) from other nucleotides. The simple detection and quantification of cAMP in human blood cells and in other samples based on the ‘turn on’ fluorescence properties of this chemosensor through colorimetry or fluorometry makes it unique for probable application in high throughput screening. peerReviewed

Aplidin® induces JNK-dependent apoptosis in human breast cancer cells via alteration of glutathione homeostasis, Rac1 GTPase activation, and MKP-1 ph…

2006

Aplidin® is an antitumor agent in phase II clinical trials that induces apoptosis through the sustained activation of Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK). We report that Aplidin® alters glutathione homeostasis increasing the ratio of oxidized to reduced forms (GSSG/GSH). Aplidin® generates reactive oxygen species and disrupts the mitochondrial membrane potential. Exogenous GSH inhibits these effects and also JNK activation and cell death. We found two mechanisms by which Aplidin® activates JNK: rapid activation of Rac1 small GTPase and downregulation of MKP-1 phosphatase. Rac1 activation was diminished by GSH and enhanced by L-buthionine (SR)-sulfoximine, which inhibits GSH synthesis. Downregulatio…

Radiofrequency and 2.45 GHz electron cyclotron resonance H− volume production ion sources

2016

The volume production of negative hydrogen ions (H-) in plasma ion sources is based on dissociative electron attachment (DEA)to rovibrationally excited hydrogen molecules(H2), which is a two-step process requiring both, hot electrons for ionization, and vibrational excitation of the H2 and cold electrons for the H- formation through DEA. Traditionally H- ion sources relying on the volume production have been tandem-type arc discharge sources equipped with biased filament cathodes sustaining the plasma by thermionic electron emission and with a magnetic filter separating the main discharge from the H- formation volume. The main motivation to develop ion sources based on radiofrequency (RF) o…

Economic policy uncertainty effects for forecasting future real economic activity

2018

Recently introduced measures for Economic Policy Uncertainty (EPU) included in the data from 1997 - 2016 have a role in forecasting out-of-sample values for the future real economic activity for both the euro area and the UK economies. The inclusion of EPU measures, either for the US, the UK or for overall European economies, improves the forecasting ability of models based on standard financial market information, especially for the period before the 2008 global crisis. However, during and after the crisis period, the slope of the yield curve and excess stock market returns improves the out-of-sample forecast performance the most compared to an AR-benchmark model. Hence, the EPU informatio…
