Libre circulation des travailleurs dans l'Union Européenne et tutelle des droits individuels de retraite complémentaire: un chantier inachevé
2013
Freedom of movement of workers within the EU implies adequate regulation of risks incurred by workers on the occasion of the exercise of this freedom. Among these risks, there is the possibility for community workers to lose or at least find themselves unable to give their supplementary retirement pension individual rights an unitary and continuous character when they decide to settle in another member State. What are the legislative solutions already proposed by the Community legislature and even those expected by community workers to be protected from these dangers? Provide a draft answer to this question is the main concern of this work.
Hydrothermal synthesis of zeolites from rhyolitic pumice of different geological origins
1983
Abstract Twelve samples of rhyolitic pumice from widely different origins were subjected to zeolitization in standard hydrothermal conditions (solid/liquid ratio, 1 5 ; T , 95°C; reaction time, 5 h; alkaline solution 5 N NaOH). The Si Al ratio of the starting material was of special importance in that zeolites formed with Si Al ratios similar to or smaller than that of the parent material. Pumice with low SiO 2 Al 2 O 3 , and high Fe content, preferentially gave rise to zeolites with lower SiO 2 Al 2 O 3 ratio than in the case of lower Fe and higher SiO 2 Al 2 O 3 ratio.
Non invasive blood flow measurement in cerebellum detects minimal hepatic encephalopathy earlier than psychometric tests
2013
AIM: To assess whether non invasive blood flow measurement by arterial spin labeling in several brain regions detects minimal hepatic encephalopathy. METHODS: Blood flow (BF) was analyzed by arterial spin labeling (ASL) in different brain areas of 14 controls, 24 cirrhotic patients without and 16 cirrhotic patients with minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE). Images were collected using a 3 Tesla MR scanner (Achieva 3T-TX, Philips, Netherlands). Pulsed ASL was performed. Patients showing MHE were detected using the battery Psychometric Hepatic Encephalopathy Score (PHES) consisting of five tests. Different cognitive and motor functions were also assessed: alterations in selective attention we…
Hemodynamic changes in splanchnic circulation after orthotopic liver transplantation in patients with liver cirrhosis
2002
Background: Liver cirrhosis increases portal vein pressure and alters the splanchnic circulation. With Doppler sonography, we investigated the hemodynamic changes in the portal vein, superior mesenteric artery, hepatic and splenic arteries and spleen size in a group of patients with end-stage liver disease before and after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT). Methods: Ten patients (seven male, three female; mean age = 48.8 ± 7.6 years) who underwent OLT for liver cirrhosis mainly associated with hepatitis C virus infection completed the study. The control group consisted of 10 patients matched by sex and age who had no gastroenterologic or vascular diseases. All patients underwent duplex…
Clinical states of cirrhosis and competing risks.
2018
The clinical course of cirrhosis is mostly determined by the progressive increase of portal hypertension, hyperdynamic circulation, bacterial translocation and activation of systemic inflammation. Different disease states, encompassing compensated and decompensated cirrhosis and a late decompensated state, are related to the progression of these mechanisms and may be recognised by haemodynamic or clinical characteristics. While these disease states do not follow a predictable sequence, they correspond to varying mortality risk. Acute-on-chronic liver failure may occur either in decompensated or in compensated cirrhosis and is always associated with a high short-term mortality. The increasin…
Clinical implications of the hyperdynamic syndrome in cirrhosis.
2014
Abstract The hyperdynamic syndrome is a late consequence of portal hypertension in cirrhosis. The principal hemodynamic manifestations of the hyperdynamic syndrome are high cardiac output, and increased heart rate and total blood volume, accompanied by reduced total systemic vascular resistance. Pathophysiology involves a complex of humoral and neural mechanisms that can determine hemodynamic changes, and lead to hyperdynamic circulation. In this review we focus our attention on the manifestations of the hyperdynamic syndrome. Some of these are well described and directly related to portal hypertension (varices, ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, and hepatorenal syndrome), while others, such …
Chest electrical impedance tomography examination, data analysis, terminology, clinical use and recommendations: consensus statement of the translati…
2017
Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) has undergone 30 years of development. Functional chest examinations with this technology are considered clinically relevant, especially for monitoring regional lung ventilation in mechanically ventilated patients and for regional pulmonary function testing in patients with chronic lung diseases. As EIT becomes an established medical technology, it requires consensus examination, nomenclature, data analysis and interpretation schemes. Such consensus is needed to compare, understand and reproduce study findings from and among different research groups, to enable large clinical trials and, ultimately, routine clinical use. Recommendations of how EIT findi…
Biodegradable Protein Nanocontainers
2015
The application of synthetic polymers for drug delivery often requires tremendous efforts to ensure biocompatibility and -degradation. To use the body's own substances can help to overcome these problems. Herein, we present the first synthesis of nanocontainers entirely composed of albumin proteins. These protein nanocontainers (PNCs) were loaded with hydrophilic compounds and release of the payload is triggered through natural lysis in vitro in human monocyte-derived dendritic cells (moDCs). No aggregation of PNCs in human blood plasma was observed, indicating stability for blood circulation. As the PNCs were readily taken up by moDCs, they are considered as a promising delivery platform f…
Swarming : An Investigation Practice Supporting a Bottom-up Ecological Transition
2022
Chronic Administration of Quercetin Induces Biomechanical and Pharmacological Remodeling in the Rat Coronary Arteries
2017
Acute dilation brought about by the dietary flavonoid quercetin in coronary arterioles has been described earlier, but no information is available on its chronic effects. Male Wistar rats (body weight about 190 g) were divided to two groups: the quercetin-treated group (n=22) had quercetin supplementation of approximately 30 mg/kg/day, whereas the control group (n=20) had none. After eight weeks of treatment, intramural coronary arterioles with identical passive diameters (178+/-14 microm and 171+/-9 microm) were prepared and their biomechanics and pharmacological reactivities were tested using pressure arteriography ex vivo. The spontaneous tone of quercetin-treated arteries was higher (16…
