Both main martyrs of the ancient city, first bishop Domnio and Anastasius fullonicus, are the medieval patrons of the cathedral beside Virgin Mary. The article takes Zachary Baqué's study of Los Angeles in the films of David Lynch as a starting point to explore David Lynch's Hollywood movies. The author contends that the films offer more than a satirical representation of a corrupt, unhealthy system which threatens dreams and artistic creativity, or a parodic play on Hollywood genre and narrative conventions. This study examined the effect of home environment factors in the acquisition of early reading skills (orthographic awareness and decoding competence). To assess these factors, a sample of seventy-two (72) first grade learners (females = 55%; age range = 7–8 years) and their maternal parents (age range 26–61 years old) from low SES in Zambia's capital city, Lusaka were recruited. The study objective is the knowledge of the ways in which ‘the universe of the house is structured’ , in particular in a selected neighbourhood located on the northern edge of Favara - a town in the Sicilian hinterland, few kilometres far from Agrigento - characterized by self-building. The hope is that the investigated built-up heritage, together with public open spaces, can be recovered and enhanced by the community and local governance through strategic urban redevelopment actions not to lose a significant part of the city’s identity and history.

This thesis aims to establish a urban structure that optimizes inhabitant's preferences. In other words, we want to find out which city shape answers the best the residents' aspirations, according to their consumption preferences for urban and green amenities. By considering a theoretical field of study and by characterizing the population by a Cobb-Douglas behavioral pattern, we will build step by step a city, assuming successive arrivais of new individuals, in order to find out which geometric shape gives the most suitable answer.
