The paper examines the functions of awareness in classroom communication. The focus is on interactionist approaches, conversational analysis and multimodal analysis methods. The concept of awareness can be analyzed from an inner or an external perspective. According to the perspective adopted, different approaches to the study of classroom discourse can be designed. The three approaches considered in the paper trace the development of awareness from language (learning) awareness to interactional awareness and thus offer a prospect of a deeper understanding of classroom discourse.

This work focuses on the study of personal determinants of pupils' achievement and reactions toward class (well-being; satisfaction with teacher, learning and class). A theoretical model is tested by commonality analysis and refined by causal paths analysis. The results show that external and cognitive prior characteristics (age, gender, socio-occupational background, academic record) have direct effects on criteria variables, and indirectly via the attitudes toward school (negative feelings; scholastic interest; aspirations for future studies; "scholastic anxiety, worry and stress"; fun school). This article asks about the expansion of psychological, therapeutic and self-enhancement ethos through the networks and devices that configures middle and upper-middle classes, and about the ways in which this process is singled out starting from the encounter between coaching and psychology paradigms with golf fans, in contemporary Argentina. The empirical materials that support the analysis have been ethnographically produced from the interaction with golf players and coaches.
