Gray coding cubic planar maps
2016
International audience; The idea of (combinatorial) Gray codes is to list objects in question in such a way that two successive objects differ in some pre-specified small way. In this paper, we utilize beta-description trees to cyclicly Gray code three classes of cubic planar maps, namely, bicubic planar maps, 3-connected cubic planar maps, and cubic non-separable planar maps. Segmentation, involvement and the reach-engagementrelationship: evidence from a QR code advertising campaign
2013
This paper presents a procedure that practitioners must follow before assessing the reach-‐engagement relationship in a “pull” campaign. It is suggested to check for the independence between this relationship and that between segmentation and product involvement. If the two relationships are independent, then segmentation becomes less relevant when assessing the reach-‐engagement relationship. Otherwise, an unobservable segmentation variable must be accounted for in the reach-‐engagement relationship. These aspects of segmentation are never mentioned in the extant literature, which treats segmentation in “pull” campaigns the same way in which targeting is designed in “push” campaigns. Th…
QR kodu kā tirdzniecības instrumenta atbilstība uzņēmumiem
2021
YaJEM — A MONTE CARLO CODE FOR IN-MEDIUM SHOWER EVOLUTION
2010
High transverse momentum (P_T) QCD scattering processes are regarded as a valuable tool to study the medium produced in heavy-ion collisions, as due to uncertainty arguments their cross section should be calculable independent of medium properties whereas the medium then modifies only the final state partons emerging from a hard vertex. With the heavy-ion physics program at the CERN LHC imminent, the attention of high P_T physics in heavy ion collisions is shifting from the observation of hard single hadrons to fully reconstructed jets. However, the presence of a background medium at low P_T complicates jet-finding as compared to p-p collisions. Monte-Carlo (MC) codes designed to simulate t…

Dosimetric feasibility study for an extracorporeal BNCT application on liver metastases at the TRIGA Mainz
2010
This study investigates the dosimetric feasibility of Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) of explanted livers in the thermal column of the research reactor in Mainz. The Monte Carlo code MCNP5 is used to calculate the biologically weighted dose for different ratios of the (10)B-concentration in tumour to normal liver tissue. The simulation results show that dosimetric goals are only partially met. To guarantee effective BNCT treatment the organ has to be better shielded from all gamma radiation.
Monte Carlo dosimetric study of the BEBIG Co-60 HDR source
2005
Although not as widespread as Ir-192, Co-60 is also available on afterloading equipment devoted to high dose rate brachytherapy, mainly addressed to the treatment of gynaecological lesions. The purpose of this study is to obtain the dosimetric parameters of the Co-60 source used by the BEBIG MultiSource remote afterloader (BEBIG GmbH, Germany) for which there are no dosimetric data available in the literature. The Monte Carlo code GEANT4 has been used to obtain the TG43 parameters and the 2D dose rate table in Cartesian coordinates of the BEBIG Co-60 HDR source. The dose rate constant, radial dose function and anisotropy function have been calculated and are presented in a tabular form as w…
Comparison between different sources of atmospheric profiles for land surface temperature retrieval from single channel thermal infrared data
2012
Abstract Different sources of atmospheric water vapor and temperature profiles were used with a radiative transfer model for retrieving land surface temperature (LST) from thermal infrared remote sensing data with the so-called single channel (SC) method. Retrieved LSTs were compared to concurrent ground measurements over homogeneous rice fields to assess the accuracy of the atmospheric profiles. These included radiosonde balloons launched at the test site near-concurrently to satellite overpasses, re-analysis profiles from the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), and satellite sounder products from the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) and the Moderate Imaging Spectrorad…
Application of the SKYRAD Improved Langley plot method for the in situ calibration of CIMEL Sun-sky photometers
2007
The in situ procedure for determining the solar calibration constants, originally developed for the PREDE Sun-sky radiometers and based on a modified version of the Langley plot, was applied to a CIMEL instrument located in Valencia, Spain, not integrated into AERONET. Taking into account the different mechanical and electronic characteristics of the two radiometers, the method was adapted to the characteristics of the CIMEL instrument. The iterative procedure for the determination of the solar calibration constants was applied to a 3-year data set. The results were compared with the two sets of experimental calibration constants determined during this period using the standard Langley plot…
Rateless codes implementation, optimization and application to Free Space Optics links affected by optical turbulence
In this work, I have implemented, optimized and tested the most advanced rateless codes available up to now, i.e., RaptorQ codes. In detail, a multiplatform data transmission software has been appositely developed in order to verify the effectiveness of the above-mentioned codes to decrease packet loss and hence to improve the link quality, under different network and channel conditions. Several simulative and experimental investigations have been carried out to evaluate the performance of the encoding and decoding schemes and the relative recovery capabilities under different test scenarios. In particular, I have applied the software embedding RaptorQ codes to Free Space Optics communicati…
