Multifactorial individualised programme for hamstring muscle injury risk reduction in professional football: protocol for a prospective cohort study

2020

IntroductionHamstring muscle injuries (HMI) continue to plague professional football. Several scientific publications have encouraged a multifactorial approach; however, no multifactorial HMI risk reduction studies have been conducted in professional football. Furthermore, individualisation of HMI management programmes has only been researched in a rehabilitation setting. Therefore, this study aims to determine if aspecificmultifactorial and individualised programme can reduce HMI occurrence in professional football. Methods and analysisWe conducted a prospective cohort study over two seasons within the Finnish Premier League and compare the amount of HMI sustained during a control season to…

2018

A correction has been published:The Journal of Infectious Diseases, Volume 218, Issue 8, 15 October 2018, Page 1350, https://doi.org/10.1093/infdis/jiy315; International audience; Background:We assessed prevalence and risk factors for anal human papillomavirus (HPV) in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive men who have sex with men (MSM), who are at high-risk of HPV-related anal cancer. Methods:APACHES is a multicentric, prospective study of anal HPV infection and lesions in HIV-positive MSM aged ≥35 years. At baseline, participants underwent anal swabs for HPV and cytology, plus high-resolution anoscopy. High-risk HPV (HR-HPV) was tested by Cobas4800, with genotyping of HR-HPV positiv…

Stress Hyperglycemia as Predictive Factor of Recurrence in Children with Febrile Seizures

2020

Stress hyperglycemia and hyperlactatemia are commonly referred to as markers of stress severity and poor outcome in children with severe acute illness or febrile seizures. Our prospective study aimed to explore the risk factors for stress hyperglycemia and the predictive value of stress hyperglycemia for febrile seizure recurrence. We evaluated as risk factors for blood glucose level, serum lactate, acid&ndash

Post-infectious myocardial Infarction: Does percutaneous coronary intervention improve outcomes? A propensity-score matched analysis

2020

Acute infection is a frequent trigger of myocardial infarction (MI). However, whether percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) improves post-infectious MI prognosis is a major but unsolved issue. In this prospective multicenter study from coronary care units, we performed propensity score-matched analysis to compare outcomes in patients with and without PCI for post-infectious MI with angiography-proven significant coronary stenosis (&gt

Laparoscopy versus open adrenalectomy in patients with solid tumor metastases: results of a multicenter European study

2020

Background: The outcome of adrenalectomy carried out by laparoscopy or open surgery for solid tumor metastases was assessed. Methods: A total of 317 patients with histologically confirmed adrenal metastatic disease collected from 30 centres in Europe underwent adrenalectomy by laparoscopy (n=146) or open laparotomy (n=171). Differences between laparoscopic and open adrenalectomy were assessed by a single Cox analysis for both procedures. Results: The median overall survival was 24.0 [95% confidence interval (CI): 21.4-26.6] months for open adrenalectomy and 45.0 (95% CI: 22.6-67.4) for laparoscopic adrenalectomy (P=0.008). Survival rates were 68%, 49%, 35% and 29% at 1, 2, 3 and 5 years for…

Cohort profile: Thrombolysis in Ischemic Stroke Patients (TRISP): a multicentre research collaboration

2018

PurposeThe ThRombolysis in Ischemic Stroke Patients (TRISP) collaboration aims to address clinically relevant questions about safety and outcomes of intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) and endovascular thrombectomy. The findings can provide observational information on treatment of patients derived from everyday clinical practice.ParticipantsTRISP is an open, investigator-driven collaborative research initiative of European stroke centres with expertise in treatment with revascularisation therapies and maintenance of hospital-based registries. All participating centres made a commitment to prospectively collect data on consecutive patients with stroke treated with IVT using standardised definiti…

Sinus floor elevation with platelet-rich fibrin alone : a clinical retrospective study of 1-7 years

2018

Background Several sinus floor elevation procedures for implant placement have been introduced. The present study aimed to evaluate the implants placed with Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) alone in atrophic posterior maxillae and survival rates and the potential factors associated with implant loss. Material and Methods This retrospective study evaluated 71 implants in 34 patients after 1-7 years' follow-up time. Statistical models were used to determine the implant survival and the potential factors associated with loss. Results Overall, 7 implants were lost, and the cumulative survival rate at 7 years by implant-based and patient-bases analyses were 85.5% and 85.7%, respectively. The mean resi…

Clinical retrospective study of dental implant removal : do patients who require implant removal desire implant prosthesis again?

2020

Background This study investigated the causes of dental implant removal due to complications, and examined whether patients who had dental implant removal desired re-implant prosthesis treatments. Material and Methods A retrospective case–control study was conducted on patients who had their dental implants removed. We investigated whether the removed dental implant was replaced with other implant prostheses. Age, sex, diabetes, smoking, implant site distribution, reason for implant removal, and blade and root-form implants were categorized as predictive variables. The outcome variable was desire for re-implantation or use of other prosthetic methods after implant removal. A logistic regres…
