RAB3GAP1 and RAB3GAP2 modulate basal and rapamycin-induced autophagy
2014
Macroautophagy is a degradative pathway that sequesters and transports cytosolic cargo in autophagosomes to lysosomes, and its deterioration affects intracellular proteostasis. Membrane dynamics accompanying autophagy are mostly elusive and depend on trafficking processes. RAB GTPase activating proteins (RABGAPs) are important factors for the coordination of cellular vesicle transport systems, and several TBC (TRE2-BUB2-CDC16) domain-containing RABGAPs are associated with autophagy. Employing C. elegans and human primary fibroblasts, we show that RAB3GAP1 and RAB3GAP2, which are components of the TBC domain-free RAB3GAP complex, influence protein aggregation and affect autophagy at basal an…
Les monnaies gauloises et romaines de l'oppidum de Bibracte
2007
Over a century of coin finds at Bibracte, between 1868 and 2000, makes this site a major reference point for Celtic numismatics. The Catalogue raisonné of 2471 Gaulish coins and 478 Roman coins gives us an insight into the circulation of coins / coinage in this oppidum after the Roman Conquest and an idea of the level of coin usage in the Gaulish economy. The progressive emergence of coin types in archaeological contexts shows on the one hand a constant use of coins from La Tène D1, (end of the 2nd century BC), an exponential increase in the volume of coin issues up to the Roman Conquest, and a late introduction of Roman coins. This implies a growth in the use of coins in parallel with the …
Absence of spatial genetic structure in common dentex (Dentex dentex Linnaeus, 1758) in the Mediterranean Sea as evidenced by nuclear and mitochondri…
2018
International audience; The common dentex, Dentex dentex, is a fish species which inhabits marine environments in the Mediterranean and Northeast Atlantic regions. This is an important species from an ecological, economic and conservation perspective, however critical information on its population genetic structure is lacking. Most samples were obtained from the Mediterranean Sea (17 sites) with an emphasis around Corsica (5 sites), plus one Atlantic Ocean site. This provided an opportunity to examine genetic structuring at local and broader scales to provide science based data for the management of fishing stocks in the region. Two mitochondrial regions were examined (D-loop and COI) along…
Field Reconstruction for Modeling Multiple Faults in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors in Transient States
2021
Conventional field reconstruction model (FRM) for electrical machines has proved its main strength in efficient computations of magnetic fields and forces in healthy permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM) or faulty machines in steady states. This study aims to develop a magnet library of different magnet defects and include inter-turn short-circuit (ITSC) in the FRM for PMSM. The developed FRM can model a combination fault between ITSC, and magnet defect in a PMSM in transient states. Within the framework, an 8-turn ITSC was modelled in both finite element analysis (FEA) and FRM, and then identified by the extended Park’s vector approach. The air-gap magnetic field reproduced b…
An approach to the optimum design of the magnetic circuit of a PM linear electrical generator driven by stochastical forces
2006
Linear electrical generator has been recently studied for the exploitation of sea waves energy. In order to maximize the energy extraction, the stochastic features of the energy source must be included in the mathematical model of the system. A PM linear electrical generator has been designed and built. The design has been optimized by including in the mathematical model used for the optimization the following aspects: 1. the dynamic and stochastic features of the waves; 2. a dynamic model of the hydraulic conversion system; 3. a parametric circuit model of the magnetic circuit as well as of the electric windings; 4. a circuit model of the power electronics converter used to connect the gen…
Language as an instrument of nationalism in Central Europe
2001
This article presents a brief survey and analysis of the most intimate coupling of culture and national projects that occurred in Central Europe following the success of the Italian and German nation-states established in this manner during the third quarter of the nineteenth century. Language is the very ‘stuff’ of culture as well as the instrument of communicating and reaffirming cultural difference vis-a-vis other cultures. As such, language became central to the processes of nation- and nation-state-building in Central Europe, leading to politicisation of language and also of linguistics and philology, which were expected to fortify the nations and their nation-states than rather to len…
The euro impact on trade. Long run evidence with structural breaks
2012
In this paper we present new evidence on the euro effect on trade. We use a data set containing all bilateral combinations in a panel of 26 OECD countries during the period 1967-2008. From a methodological point of view, we implement a new generation of tests that allow solving some of the problems derived from the non-stationary nature of the data. To this aim we apply panel tests that account for the presence of cross-section dependence as well as discontinuities in the non-stationary panel data. We test for cointegration between the variables using panel cointegration tests, especially the ones proposed by Banerjee and Carrióni- Silvestre (2010). We also efficiently estimate the long-run…
Efficiency improvement of a ground coupled heat pump system from energy management
2011
The installed capacity of an air conditioning system is usually higher than the average cooling or heating demand along the year. So, most of the time, the system is working under its actual capacity. In this contribution, we study the way to improve the efficiency of a ground coupled heat pump air conditioning system by adapting its produced thermal energy to the actual thermal demand. For this purpose, an air conditioning system composed by a ground coupled heat pump and a central fan coil linked to an office located in a cooling dominated area was simulated, and a new management strategy aiming to diminish electrical consumption was developed under the basic constraint that comfort requi…
CERME7 Working group 17: From a study of teaching practices to issues in teacher education
2012
Around a quarter of WG17 papers focused on mathematical content knowledge needed for teaching (MCKT), trying to define it in relation to characteristics of the mathematical knowledge of other profe...
Helicobacter pylori and epstein–barr co-infection in gastric disease
2017
The incidence of gastrointestinal diseases and in particular gastric cancer (GC) is high worldwide. Over the last few years, numerous studies have speculated that Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) can be correlated with gastric cancerogenesis. Virulence factors of H. pylori can contribute to the variability of clinical outcomes: among the most important virulence factors is the pathogenicity island (CagPAI), vacA and oipA gene. EBV infection usually persists in B cells and induces an inflammatory reaction in cooperation with H. pylori. In Sicily, H. pylori and EBV infections are particularly prevalent, and to our knowledge no study has addressed this yet. The aim …
