Blow-up collocation solutions of nonlinear homogeneous Volterra integral equations

In this paper, collocation methods are used for detecting blow-up solutions of nonlinear homogeneous Volterra-Hammerstein integral equations. To do this, we introduce the concept of "blow-up collocation solution" and analyze numerically some blow-up time estimates using collocation methods in particular examples where previous results about existence and uniqueness can be applied. Finally, we discuss the relationships between necessary conditions for blow-up of collocation solutions and exact solutions.

The article aims at combining two methodological approaches, namely corpus linguistics and discourse studies. Both of these approaches are present in corpus-assisted discourse studies (CADS) which makes use of both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. First, an attempt is made to discuss the differences and similarities of these two traditions based on Leech’s (2000) listing. However, it turns out that this listing does not include all necessary viewpoints, and those are further discussed. The importance of phraseological information in lexicographic resources is experiencing an exponential growth. This is evident in the publication in recent years of a wide variety of combinatorial or collocation dictionaries. This paper describes and compares the main monolingual collocation dictionaries for English and Spanish in regards to the following: (i) types of collocation encoded; (ii) kinds of collocational information offered; (iii) place for collocations in the micro or macrostructure of the dictionary. The objective of this analysis is to study the usefulness of these resources for translators.

Existence and uniqueness of nontrivial collocation solutions of implicitly linear homogeneous Volterra integral equations

We analyze collocation methods for nonlinear homogeneous Volterra-Hammerstein integral equations with non-Lipschitz nonlinearity. We present different kinds of existence and uniqueness of nontrivial collocation solutions and we give conditions for such existence and uniqueness in some cases. Finally we illustrate these methods with an example of a collocation problem, and we give some examples of collocation problems that do not fit in the cases studied previously.

This work presents a meshless numerical scheme for the solution of time dependent non linear heat transfer problems in terms of a radial basis function Hermite collocation approach. The proposed scheme is applied to foodstuff's samples during freezing process; evaluation of the time evolution of the temperature profile along the sample, as well as at the core, is carried out. The moving phase-change zone is identified in the domain and plotted at several timesteps. The robustness of the proposed scheme is tested by a comparison of the obtained numerical results with those found using a Finite Volume Method and with experimental results.

Dans cette étude les « collocations fondamentales » sont envisagées comme des unités polylexicales significatives (unies par des liens collocationnels) fréquentes (dans l'usage) ou non fréquentes (lorsqu'elles sont pertinentes pour la communication) qui représentent pour les locuteurs natifs les contextes les plus essentiels d'un mot donné.
