Triterpene Saponins from Cyclamen persicum

A new triterpene saponin 3- O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)-α-L-arabinopyranosyl-16α-hydroxy-13β,28-epoxy-oleanan-30-al (1), along with four known triterpene glycosides (2-5) were isolated from Cyclamen persicum. Their structures were characterized by a combination of 1D- and 2D-NMR (1H-1H COSY, TOCSY, NOESY, HSQC, and HMBC) and MS spectrocopic data. The cytotoxicity of compounds 2 and 4 was evaluated using two human colon cancer cell lines HT-29 and HCT 116.

Structure and cytotoxicity of steroidal glycosides from Allium schoenoprasum

Abstract A phytochemical analysis of the whole plant of Allium schoenoprasum , has led to the isolation of four spirostane-type glycosides ( 1 – 4 ), and four known steroidal saponins. The complex alteration in the network of IL-17-type cytokines in patients with hereditary angioedema

Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a rare autosomic-dominant disorder characterized by a deficiency of C1 esterase inhibitor which causes episodic swellings of subcutaneous tissues, bowel walls and upper airways that are disabling and potentially life-threatening. We evaluated n = 17 patients with confirmed HAE diagnosis during attack and remission state and n = 19 healthy subjects. The samples were tested for a panel of IL (Interleukin)-17-type cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, granulocyte–macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF), IL-17, IL-21, IL-22, IL-23) and transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) subtypes. The aims of the present study were firstly, to characterize pharmacologically the subtypes of P(1) purinoreceptors involved in the inhibitory effects induced by exogenous adenosine in longitudinal smooth muscle of mouse colon, and secondly, to examine differences in the function and distribution of these receptors between proximal and distal colon. Adenosine (100 microM-3 mM) caused a concentration-dependent reduction of the amplitude of spontaneous contractions in the proximal colon, and muscular relaxation in the distal colon. Transcription intermediary factor 1γ (TIF1γ) was suggested to play a role in erythropoiesis. However, how TIF1γ regulates the development of different blood cell lineages and whether TIF1γ is involved in human hematological malignancies remain to be determined. Here we have shown that TIF1γ was a tumor suppressor in mouse and human chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML). Loss of Tif1g in mouse HSCs favored the expansion of the granulo-monocytic progenitor compartment. Furthermore, Tif1g deletion induced the age-dependent appearance of a cell-autonomous myeloproliferative disorder in mice that recapitulated essential characteristics of human CMML. This retrospective study aims to evaluate clinical and cost effectiveness of colonic stenting as a bridge to surgery and as a palliative treatment in acutely obstructed left-sided colon cancer.Onehundred fortyfour patients were collected between 2006 and 2012, with acute left-sided malignant colonic obstruction with no evidence of peritonitis: 96 patients underwent surgical treatment, 48 underwent decompressive stenting.
