Multiple Congenital Colonic Stenosis: A Rare Gastrointestinal Malformation

Congenital colonic stenosis is a rare pediatric condition. Since 1968, only 16 cases have been reported in the literature. To the authors’ knowledge, multiple congenital colonic stenosis has not been previously reported in the literature. We report the case of a 2-month-old male, presented at our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with a suspicion of intestinal malrotation. Clinical examination revealed persistent abdominal distension. During the enema examination, the contrast medium appeared to fill the lumen of the colon up to three stenotic segments and could not proceed further. Use of BICAP in a case of colon angiodysplasia

This paper reports on a case of colonic bleeding from an angiodysplastic lesion of the ascending colon in a 71-year-old diabetic woman, resulting in severe anemia in the patient, who was treated using the BICAP electrocoagulation system. The present report includes a description of this technique, which involves the use of a 7-F hemostatic probe connected to a 25-W BICAP source.

Adhesions represent a severe complication of cesarean section and can cause different degrees of bowel obstruction. Case reports We report two unusual cases of small bowel obstruction treated with laparoscopic approach after caesarean section performed for gynecological pathologies. Abstract We assessed the capacity of recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and multilineage (Multi)-CSF to induce release of granulocyte-CSF (G-CSF) by highly purified peripheral blood monocyte (Mo) preparations. Our results reveal that GM-CSF and Multi-CSF, either alone or in a synergistic concert, activate Mo to transcribe G-CSF messenger (m) RNA and release biologically active G- CSF protein into their culture supernatants. G-CSF had no regulatory effect on Mo expression of cytoplasmic G-CSF mRNA levels and G-CSF protein secretion by itself. The article considers the multicultural roots of the European Union from a postcolonial perspective. Therefore, European history is outlined from colonialism to imperialism, concluding with recent regulations on international migration. The etymology of the terms colony and culture, both derived from the Latin verb colĕre (to cultivate), is the link that connects these themes, highlighting a conception of the relationship between Europeans and the otherness based on exploitation and domination. Through this view, differential colonialism merges with social self representation (antropopoiesi) inherent in the concepts of culture and education and already disclosed by the Greek paideia.

This article explores the leisure time and civic activities of ‘multicultural youth’ in Finland. The theoretic-conceptual framework is the Foucauldian governmentality approach and Foucault's four step model of the ethical self-formation of the moral subject.
