Grid production with the ATLAS Event Service

ATLAS has developed and previously presented a new computing architecture, the Event Service, that allows real time delivery of fine grained workloads which process dispatched events (or event ranges) and immediately streams outputs. The principal aim was to profit from opportunistic resources such as commercial cloud, supercomputing, and volunteer computing, and otherwise unused cycles on clusters and grids. During the development and deployment phase, its utility also on the grid and conventional clusters for the exploitation of otherwise unused cycles became apparent. Quality of Environmental Impact Assessment: Finnish EISs and the opinions of EIA professionals

This article presents and compares findings of two EIA quality studies conducted in Finland. First a survey was targeted at competent authorities and environmental consultants to investigate their perceptions of the quality of Finnish EIAs. Second, 15 EISs were considered using the European Commission's guidance on review criteria. The results show that the EIA professionals generally consider the quality as good, though they also recognized that the quality varies and suggested certain areas for improvement. Il contributo, che fa parte del catalogo della mostra, esamina alcune le suppellettili liturgiche conservate nei Tesori della Chiesa Madre di Geraci Siculo e della Matrice Nuova di Castelbuono e nel Museo Civico di quest’ultimo centro siciliano. Si tratta di opere in argento, in discreto stato di conservazione, commissionate perlopiù dai munifici Ventimiglia, signori del luogo. Sono manufatti realizzati da argentieri siciliani dagli inizi del Seicento sino all’Ottocento, quindi dal periodo barocco al neoclassicismo.
