Theoretical characterization of the photochemical reaction CO2+O(3P)→CO+O2 related to experiments in solid krypton

2020

Formation and decomposition of the complex of carbon dioxide and atomic oxygen are characterized by quantum chemistry methods aiming to rationalize experimental studies in solid krypton. The observed FTIR spectra reflected the temporal evolution of the system after irradiation showing the bands of reactants, intermediates and products. Advanced quantum chemistry calculations show that the T-shape complex CO2…O(3P) can be formed in the matrix. Its excitation by the 193 nm light results in the charge-transfer state CO2+…O-, which evolves to the reaction intermediate CO3. The latter species decomposes to CO + O2 following pathways on the excited state energy surfaces. peerReviewed

Théorie de l'auto organisation critique

2008

The deubiquitinase USP11 is a versatile and conserved regulator of autophagy

2021

Autophagy is a major cellular quality control system responsible for the degradation of proteins and organelles in response to stress and damage to maintain homeostasis. Ubiquitination of autophagy-related proteins or regulatory components is important for the precise control of autophagy pathways. Here, we show that the deubiquitinase ubiquitin-specific protease 11 (USP11) restricts autophagy and that KO of USP11 in mammalian cells results in elevated autophagic flux. We also demonstrate that depletion of the USP11 homolog H34C03.2 in Caenorhabditis elegans triggers hyperactivation of autophagy and protects the animals against human amyloid-β peptide 42 aggregation-induced paralysis. USP11…

Distinct bhaplotype structure at the innate immune receptor Toll-like receptor 2 across bank vole populations and lineages in Europe

2015

Abstract: Parasite-mediated selection may contribute to the maintenance of genetic variation at host immune genes over long time scales. To date, the best evidence for the long-term maintenance of immunogenetic variation in natural populations comes from studies on the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) genes, whereas evidence for such processes from other immune genes remains scarce. In the present study, we show that, despite pronounced population differentiation and the occurrence of numerous private alleles within populations, the innate immune gene Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) displays a distinct haplotype structure in 21 bank vole (Myodes glareolus) populations across Europe. Haplo…

Palladium(II)-Mediated Addition of Benzenediamines to Isocyanides: Generation of Three Types of Diaminocarbene Ligands Depending on the Isomeric Stru…

2016

Coupling of the palladium-bis(isocyanide) complexes cis-[PdCl2(CNR)2] (R = 2,6-Me2C6H3 1, 2-Cl-6-MeC6H3 2) with benzene-1,3-diamine (BDA1) leads to the diaminocarbene species cis-[PdCl2(CNR){C(NHR)═NH(1,3-C6H4NH2)}] (5 and 6, respectively). In this reaction, BDA1 behaves as a monofunctional nucleophile that adds to one of the RNC ligands by one amino group. By contrast, the reaction of 1 and 2 with benzene-1,4-diamine (BDA2) involves both amino functionalities of the diamine and leads to the binuclear species [cis-PdCl2(CNR){μ-C(NHR)═NH(1,4-C6H4)NH═C(NHR)}-(cis)-PdCl2(CNR)] (6 and 7) featuring two 1,4-bifunctional diaminocarbene ligands. The reaction of cis-[PdCl2(CNR)2] (R = cyclohexyl 3) …

ORNAMENTAL SIGN LANGUAGE IN THE FIRST ORDER TRACERY BELTS

2010

18 pages; We consider ornamental sign language of first order where principles of sieve displacement, of asymmetric building blocks as base of ornament symmetry, color exchangeability and side equivalence principles work. The generic aspects of sieve and genesis of ornamental pattern and ornament sign in it are discussed. The hemiolia principle for ornamental genesis is introduced. The discoverer of most of these principles were artist Modris Tenisons [4, 5, 6, 7 (refs. 23, 24), 8 (ref. 65)]. Here we apply systematical research using simplest mathematical arguments. We come to conclusions that mathematical argument in arising ornament is of much more significance than simply symmetries in i…

The Complement System: Activation and Control

1985

One of the hallmarks of immunology has been analysis and characterization of the C system in biological fluids. It is composed of 11 proteins of the “classical” pathway:1 C1q, C1r, C1s, C4, C2, C3, C5, C6, C7, C8, and C9. There are three proteins of the “alternative” pathway (IUIS-WHO Nomenclature Committee 1981) B, D, and P. Finally, there are four control proteins: C1 inhibitor (Cl¯ INH) and C4b binding protein (C4b-bp) for the classical pathway, I (C3b inactivator or C3b INA) and H (β1 or C3b INA accelerator) for the alternative pathway, and anaphylatoxin inactivator. Due to the dramatic advances in protein chemistry, these 19 distinct serum proteins have been highly purified and charact…

Role of Reduced Lipoic Acid in the Redox Regulation of Mitochondrial Aldehyde Dehydrogenase (ALDH-2) Activity

2007

Chronic therapy with nitroglycerin results in a rapid development of nitrate tolerance, which is associated with an increased production of reactive oxygen species. We have recently shown that mitochondria are an important source of nitroglycerin-induced oxidants and that the nitroglycerin-bioactivating mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase is oxidatively inactivated in the setting of tolerance. Here we investigated the effect of various oxidants on aldehyde dehydrogenase activity and its restoration by dihydrolipoic acid. In vivo tolerance in Wistar rats was induced by infusion of nitroglycerin (6.6 microg/kg/min, 4 days). Vascular reactivity was measured by isometric tension studies of iso…
