This paper offers a portrayal of how affective computing and persuasive technologies can converge into an effective tool for interfacing biomedical engineering with behavioral sciences and medicine. We describe the characteristics, features, applications, present state of the art, perspectives, and trends of both streams of research. In particular, these streams are analyzed in light of the potential contribution of their convergence for improving computer-mediated health-care systems, by facilitating the modification of patients’ attitudes and behaviors, such as engagement and compliance. Despite much interest in business intelligence and analytics (BI&A), empirical research shows that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are still lagging behind in the proliferation of BI&A. However, there are no studies found on literature reviewing research on BI&A in SMEs. This paper collects, categorizes, synthesizes, and analyzes 62 articles related to BI&A in SMEs. PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine value networks in cloud computing. This paper presents a methodology and a data model translator toolkit, called X-TIME, for the design and management of interoperable information systems. X-TIME combines a metamodelling approach and XML features to provide support for automated design of wrappers or semantic reconciliators. The ATLAS (A Toroidal LHC Apparatus) experiment is preparing for the data handling and analysis via a series of Data Challenges and production exercises to validate its computing model and to provide useful samples of data for detector and physics studies.
