A comparison of deontic matrices, maps and activity diagrams for the construction of situational methods

Several approaches have been proposed to support situational method engineering (SME), each of them providing different techniques and using different basic concepts. In this work, we propose a framework for comparing SME approaches based on a generic SME process model. Three approaches are presented and compared by using this framework.

This paper presents a proof of concept for selfpowered Internet of Things (IoT) device, which is maintenance free and completely self-sustainable through energy harvesting. These IoT devices can be deployed in large scale and placed anywhere as long as they are in range of a gateway, and as long as there is sufficient light levels for the solar panel, such as indoor lights. A complete IoT device is designed, prototyped and tested. The research on photonic biosensors is a scientific hot topic at the moment, with a significant potential impact on industry and medicine. Label-free, miniaturized, inexpensive and low-loss biosensors are developed based on optical fiber technology. Our approach is based on a Bio-Bragg-Grating (BBG) patterned on the surface of a microfiber. We present the design, fabrication and proof of concept of our device, as well as its multiplexing and tunability perspectives [1] .

AbstractThis study contends that phenomenography offers both a useful research method and practical tools for developing education and training for career practitioners. After introducing the basic principles of phenomenography, the study reviews previous research on its potential in developing pedagogical practices. The upgrade of the ATLAS tracking detector for the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider at CERN requires the development of novel radiation hard silicon sensor technologies. For the de- velopment of depleted CMOS sensors for ATLAS we combined small electrodes with minimal capacitance and advanced processing for fully depleted active sensor volume to achieve radiation hard CMOS sensors in line with ATLAS ITk specifications. Relativity is a very important part of modern physics. In this paper we analyze the teaching and learning of the theory of relativity in secondary education and we show some reasoned arguments against traditional methods to teach it. Finally, a didactic proposal for the teaching of relativity is presented; it comes as a conclusion that it is possible a suitable teaching of the principles of relative which should bring into the students a change in attitude, concepts and methodology.

Social categories are conceived of as broad classes in which some instances are better exemplars than others, and non-necessary features are assumed to modulate typicality. This research investigated how various emotional expressions impact on gender categorization. Two concurrent measures - response latencies and prototypicality judgments - were collected and compared in three experiments. The results showed that emotional expressions of any kind are highly relevant in modulating females' category membership, while they are of less relevance in making a male more or less prototypical. These findings provide new insights into the relation between gender and emotional expressions.
