Self-consistency conditions for localized magnetic moments in a free electron gas

The self-consistent conditions for a localized magnetic moment in a metal are studied in the case where the density of states of the host metal is free electron like. A method is outlined which in principle allows to determine self-consistently in the Hartree-Fock approximation the relevant parameters of the magnetic ground state of the system. A numerical example is approximately worked out to show how the theory gives reasonable answers in spite of the crudeness of some of the approximations used.

Superfluid turbulence in rotating containers: Phenomenological description of the influence of the wall

In this paper a previous equation for the evolution of vortex line density L in counterflow superfluid turbulence in rotating containers is generalized, in order to take into account the influence of the walls. This model incorporates the effects of counterflow velocity V and of angular velocity {omega} of the container, and introduces corrective terms depending on {delta}/d, {delta} being the intervortex spacing, of the order L{sup -1/2}, and d the diameter of the channel. New quantum Monte Carlo formulation for modeling trans-polyacetylene properties: specific heat calculation

Abstract In this paper we propose a new hybridization scheme for numerical simulation based on the determinantal quantum Monte Carlo and analytical model to treat the vibration mode of one-dimensional trans -polyacetylene chain. We use both of the extended Hubbard model (EHM) and Peierls–Hubbard model to compute the specific heat for different assumptions. For both the two models, our results indicate that the behavior of the specific heat is characterized by a maximum. We also introduce the effect of dimerization through Peierls–Hubbard model. Abstract Liking for a sweet, salty or fatty diet may induce overconsumption of simple carbohydrates, sodium or lipids. Measuring overall liking of the corresponding sensory sensations contributes to understanding the determinants of dietary behaviours. Factor Structure and Construct Validity of the Youth Psychopathic Traits Inventory and Its Shorten Version in Chinese Detained Boys

The Youth Psychopathic Traits Inventory (YPI) was designed to assess psychopathic traits in adolescents. However, there exists limited evidence for the factor structure and psychometric properties of the YPI when used with Chinese detained juveniles. The present study aimed to examine the factor structure and construct validity of the YPI and its shortened version (YPI-S) in a sample of 607 Chinese 14- to 22-year-old detained boys (M = 17.15, SD = 1.09). Confirmatory factor analyses revealed a bifactor model which best fit the data at the subscale level for the YPI, and at the item level for the YPI-S. Reducing CAS-SDCI space. Using selected spaces in configuration interaction calculations in an efficient way

A new method is presented, which allows an important reduction of the size of some Configuration Interaction (CI) matrices. Starting from a Complete Active Space (CAS), the numerous configurations that have a small weight in the CAS wave function are eliminated. When excited configurations (e.g., singly and doubly excited) are added to the reference space, the resulting MR-SDCI space is reduced in the same proportion as compared with the full CAS–SDCI.
