Cone conditions and quasiconformal mappings
1988
Let f be a quasiconformal mapping of the open unit ball B n = {x ∈ R n : | x | < l× in euclidean n-space R n onto a bounded domain D in that space. For dimension n= 2 the literature of geometric function theory abounds in results that correlate distinctive geometric properties of the domain D with special behavior, be it qualitative or quantitative, on the part of f or its inverse. There is a more modest, albeit growing, body of work that attempts to duplicate in dimensions three and above, where far fewer analytical tools are at a researcher’s disposal, some of the successes achieved in the plane along such lines. In this paper we contribute to that higher dimensional theory some observati…
Quasihyperbolic boundary conditions and capacity: Hölder continuity of quasiconformal mappings
2001
We prove that quasiconformal maps onto domains which satisfy a suitable growth condition on the quasihyperbolic metric are uniformly continuous when the source domain is equipped with the internal metric. The obtained modulus of continuity and the growth assumption on the quasihyperbolic metric are shown to be essentially sharp. As a tool, we prove a new capacity estimate.
Approximation of Baskakov type Pólya–Durrmeyer operators
2017
In the present paper we propose the Durrmeyer type modification of Baskakov operators based on inverse Polya-Eggenberger distribution. First we estimate a recurrence relation by using hypergeometric series. We give a global approximation theorem in terms of second order modulus of continuity, a direct approximation theorem by means of the Ditzian-Totik modulus of smoothness and a Voronovskaja type theorem. Some approximation results in weighted space are obtained. Also, we show the rate of convergence of these operators to certain functions by illustrative graphics using the Maple algorithms.

The fixed angle scattering problem and wave equation inverse problems with two measurements
2019
We consider two formally determined inverse problems for the wave equation in more than one space dimension. Motivated by the fixed angle inverse scattering problem, we show that a compactly supported potential is uniquely determined by the far field pattern generated by plane waves coming from exactly two opposite directions. This implies that a reflection symmetric potential is uniquely determined by its fixed angle scattering data. We also prove a Lipschitz stability estimate for an associated problem. Motivated by the point source inverse problem in geophysics, we show that a compactly supported potential is uniquely determined from boundary measurements of the waves generated by exactl…
A composite indicator index as a proxy for measuring the quality of water supply as perceived by users for urban water services
2021
Abstract The objective of this study is to develop a composite indicator (CI) to measure the quality of water supply based on the variables that are considered to affect users’ perceptions of water supply quality. The proposed CI includes six relevant aspects that determine users’ perceptions of water supply quality (network quality, water quality, water price, complaints, inconvenience caused by upgrading the network, and continuity of service) in a simple, economical, and objective way, using multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) with weights based on data envelopment analysis (DEA). The CI was applied to 32 municipalities in the metropolitan area of Valencia (Spain). The results show t…
Nature log-analytique du volume des sous-analytiques
2000
Using a preparation theorem for subanalytic functions and Lipschitz stratification for compact subanalytic sets we prove that volumes of slices of globally subanalytic sets and density have a log-analytic nature. We also prove that the set of parameters for which the volume of fiber is finite is globally subanalytic.
Il tarantismo in Sicilia
2017
Tempo e ragione nella determinazione all’agire libero. Coordinate di orientamento
2013
The topic of the essay is the relationship between time and pure practical reason in the Kant’s Theory of the free determination of the will. We ask if the orientation of the free will to the moral law implies a specific orientation in time, in which the subject can get the sense of the absolute and urgent rational obbligation to the freedom. We analyse the dinamical aspect of the pure reason on the intermediete normative level of the maxims. We research in which kind of reference points in time are the conditions of possibility of the subversion of the empirical causality, of the turn of the subjective principles’ order, of the Revolution in Conduct of Thought. Furthermore temporal referen…
Classes of regular Sobolev mappings
2008
We prove that a slight modification of the notion of α-absolute continuity introduced in [D. Bongiorno, Absolutely continuous functions in Rn, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 303 (2005) 119–134] is equivalent to the notion of n, λ-absolute continuity given by S. Hencl in [S. Hencl, On the notions of absolute continuity for functions of several variables, Fund. Math. 173 (2002) 175–189].
