The development of multi-junctions III-V semiconductors solar cells, that combine high conversion efficiency (over 40%) and capability of working under high illumination intensity (up to 1000 suns), has stimulated a rapid growth of concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) technology. The performance of these cells is based on the matching between the semiconductors band gap and the solar spectrum so as to optimize the current balancing between the subcells. This requirement is also important in connection with the CPV modules using lenses, mirrors, optical coupling compounds that introduce a wavelength dependent response to the sunlight. Nel presente lavoro sono stati impiegati nanocorni di carbonio (CNHs) come piattaforma catalitica per il design di nuovi materiali ibridi a base di sali di imidazolio per la conversione della CO2 in carbonati ciclici. A tale scopo sono stati preparati una serie di catalizzatori eterogenei mediante una procedura sintetica one-pot basata sulla polimerizzazione radicalica di vari sali di bis vinilimidazolio in presenza di nanocorni di carbonio. Internal conversion from excited electronic states of 229Th ions

The process of internal conversion from excited electronic states is investigated theoretically for the case of the vacuum-ultraviolet nuclear transition of 229 Th . Due to the very low transition energy, the 229 Th nucleus offers the unique possibility to open the otherwise forbidden internal conversion nuclear decay channel for thorium ions via optical laser excitation of the electronic shell. We show that this feature can be exploited to investigate the isomeric state properties via observation of internal conversion from excited electronic configurations of Th + and Th 2 + ions. We have studied experimentally and theoretically the rectifying properties of a single asymmetric nanopore functionalized with amphoteric lysine groups and characterized the net current obtained with zero-average time dependent potentials. Jonah 1:13 has a delaying function in the narrative, introducing a pause between Jonah’s demand to be thrown in the sea (1:12) and the event’s occurrence (1:15). Most commentators discuss only the events of 1:13 and their causes. In this article, I suggest an interpretation of Jonah 1:13 based on the imagery of the narrative. An analysis of the use of metaphors and symbols does not replace the message of the verse; such an analysis simply augments it with motives of the seamen’s conversion.
