We discuss two independent methods of solution of a master equation whose biased jump transition rates account for long jumps of L\'{e}vy-stable type and nonetheless admit a Boltzmannian (thermal) equilibrium to arise in the large time asymptotics of a probability density function $\rho (x,t)$. Abstract This paper is related to the information theoretic learning methodology, whose goal is to quantify global scalar descriptors (e.g., entropy) of a given probability density function (PDF). In this context, the core concept is the information potential (IP) S [ s ] ( x ) : = ∫ R p s ( t , x ) d t , s > 0 of a PDF p(t, x) depending on a parameter x; it is naturally related to the Renyi and Tsallis entropies. We present several such PDF, viewed also as kernels of integral operators, for which a precise relation exists between S[2](x) and the variance Var[p(t, x)]. Sobolev embeddings, extensions and measure density condition

AbstractThere are two main results in the paper. In the first one, Theorem 1, we prove that if the Sobolev embedding theorem holds in Ω, in any of all the possible cases, then Ω satisfies the measure density condition. The second main result, Theorem 5, provides several characterizations of the Wm,p-extension domains for 1<p<∞. As a corollary we prove that the property of being a W1,p-extension domain, 1<p⩽∞, is invariant under bi-Lipschitz mappings, Theorem 8.
Binding energies and pairing gaps in semi-magic nuclei obtained using new regularized higher-order EDF generators

We present results of the Hartree-Fock-Bogolyubov calculations performed using nuclear energy density functionals based on regularized functional generators at next-to-leading and next-to-next-to-leading order. We discuss properties of binding energies and pairing gaps determined in semi-magic spherical nuclei. The results are compared with benchmark calculations performed for the functional generator SLyMR0 and functional UNEDF0.

Background Human cases of plague (Yersinia pestis) infection originate, ultimately, in the bacterium's wildlife host populations. The epidemiological dynamics of the wildlife reservoir therefore determine the abundance, distribution and evolution of the pathogen, which in turn shape the frequency, distribution and virulence of human cases. Earlier studies have shown clear evidence of climatic forcing on contemporary plague abundance in rodents and humans. The work of adhesion between Langmuir monolayers and solid surfaces in a hydrophilic Langmuir-Blodgett configuration has been measured as function of the surface charge densities σ of the contacting surfaces. It was derived from the equilibrium meniscus height which was measured with the transfer fluorescence microscope. The surface charge density of the contacting surfaces was varied by changing the subphase pH. With both surfaces negatively charged (dimyristoylphosphatidylethanolamine onto SiO2-substrates) and low charge densities (σ < 1 e−/100 A2)) we observe a decrease of the adhesion with increasing charge density. Evaluation of the Fermentation Dynamics of Commercial Baker’s Yeast in Presence of Pistachio Powder to Produce Lysine-Enriched Breads

The present work was carried out to evaluate the microbiological, physicochemical, and sensory characteristics of fortified pistachio breads. Pistachio powder (5% w/w) was added to flour or semolina and fermented by a commercial baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). Pistachio powder did not influence the biological leavening of the doughs. The kinetics of pH and total titratable acidity (TTA) during dough fermentation showed that the leavening process occurred similarly for all trials.
