Is quality education a livelihood strategy? : the relevance of secondary school education in Kisoro district, southwestern Uganda
2011
Master thesis in development management- University of Agder 2011 This research addresses the secondary school education‘s impact on people‘s livelihood strategies in Kisoro district, south-western Uganda. Currently, approximately 80 percent of households in the district use agricultural livelihood strategies to produce food and generate income. Most parents want their children to attend secondary school. Historic events have impacted Ugandans‘ attitudes towards the rural lifestyle and livelihood strategies. Furthermore, past events resulted into a school system dominated by academic subjects and teacher-centeredness encouraging cramming of information rather than independent and critical t…
Developing further support for in-service teachers’ implementation of a reasoning-and-proving activity and their identification of students’ level of…
2020
This is the third in a series of papers focusing reasoning-and-proving. Participants were in-service teachers enrolled in a continuing university education programme in teaching mathematics for grades 5–10. Data were collected from a course assignment in 2018 and 2019, where the in-service teachers reported about their students’ work with a reasoning-and-proving task. Their reports included an identification of the levels the students’ written argumentation reached, based on Balacheff’s taxonomy of proofs. The course assignment’s instructions were expanded for the 2019-cohort. Comparing in-service teachers’ proof level identifications to the researchers’ by statistical analyses, indicated a…

Fra kristen trosopplæring til pluralistisk religionsundervisning
2003

It was depict as a pedagogical tool, mainly in the learning process for the individual student (Eksamenssekretariatet, 2000), by giving the students the opportunity to take responsibility for their own learning. This study is part of a larger research project on classrooms, Kvalitet i opplæringa (KIO) (Quality…
