Investigation of Solid State Diffusion Processes Involved in the Zinc Oxide Sulfidation Reaction

Sulfidation of undoped and aluminum doped zinc oxide materials has been performed by TGA under a H2S atmosphere in order to evaluate the impact of the doping element on sulfidation reaction kinetics and mechanism. The presence of aluminum seems to slow-down the reaction kinetics. This phenomenon might be explained by a modification of the solid state diffusion processes involved in ZnO sulfidation reaction and the related ZnS outward growth, assuming the presence of aluminum atoms inside ZnO and ZnS phases. Initial chemical transport of reducing elements and chemical reactions in oxide cathode base metal

Abstract In the present work, the formation of compounds associated to the diffusion of reducing elements (Mg and Al) to the nickel surface of a one-piece oxide cathode has been studied. Those compounds have been evidenced after the annealing steps at high temperature performed on cathode base metal prior to the emitting coating deposition. Therefore, they form the “initial” interface between the nickel and the coating, in other words, the interface existing at the beginning of cathode life. Bacteriocins are antimicrobial proteins produced by bacteria that inhibit with a bactericidal or bacteriostatic mode of action, the growth of other bacteria. Many lactic acid bacteria (LAB) produce a high diversity of different bacteriocins. Bacteriocinogenic LAB are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) and useful to control the frequent development of pathogens and spoilage microorganisms; for this reason they are commonly used as starter cultures in food fermentations. A bending theory of thermoelastic diffusion plates based on Green-Naghdi theory

Abstract This article is concerned with bending plate theory for thermoelastic diffusion materials under Green-Naghdi theory. First, we present the basic equations which characterize the bending of thin thermoelastic diffusion plates for type II and III models. The theory allows for the effect of transverse shear deformation without any shear correction factor, and permits the propagation of waves at a finite speed without energy dissipation for type II model and with energy dissipation for type III model. Plant material screening was performed to study anti-Helicobacter pylori activity in vitro using an agar diffusion method on Columbia blood agar. 33 substances, juices and plant extracts and 35 of their combinations were tested. Quince (Cydonia oblonga) juice demonstrated the strongest anti-H. pylori activity followed by cranberry juice. Con-centrated apple juice, plum, red currant, black chokeberry, raspberry and bilberry juice also showed significant activity. A sensor-data-based denoising framework for hyperspectral images

Many denoising approaches extend image processing to a hyperspectral cube structure, but do not take into account a sensor model nor the format of the recording. We propose a denoising framework for hyperspectral images that uses sensor data to convert an acquisition to a representation facilitating the noise-estimation, namely the photon-corrected image. This photon corrected image format accounts for the most common noise contributions and is spatially proportional to spectral radiance values. Abstract Rapid degassing of CO2 from a thin film of drip water on the surface of stalagmites is often considered to have a large effect on both speleothem growth and stable isotope values and is offered as an explanation for higher δ13C and δ18O values than expected under conditions of stable isotope equilibrium. However, the time constant for degassing of CO2 from the solution only depends on film thickness and the coefficient of molecular diffusion for CO2. Mapping the network of pathways of CO diffusion in myoglobin.

The pathways of diffusion of a CO molecule inside a myoglobin protein and toward the solvent are investigated. Specifically, the three-dimensional potential of mean force (PMF or free energy) of the CO molecule position inside the protein is calculated by using the single-sweep method in concert with fully resolved atomistic simulations in explicit solvent. The results are interpreted under the assumption that the diffusion of the ligand can be modeled as a navigation on the PMF in which the ligand hops between the PMF local minima following the minimum free energy paths (MFEPs) with rates set by the free energy barriers that need to be crossed.
