Masonry Sail Vaults in Maltese Architecture: Geometrical Analysis for the Study of Building Processes

This research concerns the introduction and dissemination of masonry sail vaults in Malta between the sixteenth and the eighteenth centuries. A digital survey is produced to capture a reality-based 3D model, undertake analysis, and compare case studies with the aim of interpreting the sail vaults' construction systems.

Writer identification for historical handwritten documents using a single feature extraction method

International audience; With the growth of artificial intelligence techniques the problem of writer identification from historical documents has gained increased interest. It consists on knowing the identity of writers of these documents. This paper introduces our baseline system for writer identification, tested on a large dataset of latin historical manuscripts used in the ICDAR 2019 competition. The proposed system yielded the best results using Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) as a single feature extraction method, without any preprocessing stage. Le système est guidé par un modèle de structures de la classe des notices, construit sur la base de spécifications détaillées par la bibliothèque. Face à la montée en puissance d'une minorité pacifiste au sein du parti à partir de 1915, ces majoritaires doivent affronter la crise de la conscience socialiste que provoque la guerre.Dans la première partie, une série d'articles apporte des éclairages nouveaux et synthétiques sur les majoritaires, généralement mal connus voire méprisés, dans l'historiographie.La seconde partie est composée de reproductions d'archives, d'articles et de documents inédits qui permettent au lecteur de se confronter aux écrits des majoritaires et démontrent la nécessité de cette nouvelle histoire.

Dans le cadre de cet article, nous définirons le document numérique comme un document dont le mode de consultation principal est la lecture à l'écran. Par extension, certaines formes d'affichage sur écran peuvent s'apparenter en ce cas à des documents numériques même si elles n'ont pas un objectif de trace ou de stabilité (écrans de logiciels, de tableaux de contrôle de processus). La frontière est en effet désormais très ténue entre document et logiciel.
