Il saggio in oggetto, dopo aver fatto riferimento alla letteratura sociologica contemporanea, analizza e ai dati statisti degli ultimi anni (fonti Istat) relativi alla presenza dei detenuti nei 206 istituti penitenziari del territorio italiano, si sofferma sulla funzione delle «misure alternative» alla detenzione.
