2006

The evolutions of the rhythms of life, the multiplication of the traffic motivations, rurality and the periurbanisation constitute the principal reasons which complicate the task of traditional collective transport. The car is the privileged transport to realise displacements. However, this individual mode of transport generates harmful effects which do not satisfy the principles of the sustainable transport. To accompany the modal carryforward by the car towards alternative transport, there are many solutions (urban planning, adaptation of collective transport, co-modality...). Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) constitutes one of the tracks for the development of a sustainable transport. T…

Food community networks as sustainable self-organized collective action: A case study of a Solidarity Purchasing Group

2014

The spread of Food Community Networks (FCNs) is mainly due to new and confirmed policies for consumption, testing new social paradigms aimed at promoting sustainable development in rural areas through the active reorganization of the agricultural and food industry. As a result, there is a set of rules deriving from complex relational structures competing to define self-organized collective action for sustainability. This paper analyses the structure of relations within FCNs. With this end in view, research on the experience of FCNs has been done, in particular of Solidarity Purchasing Groups (henceforth SPGs) in Sicily (Southern Italy). By applying Social Network Analysis, the article ident…

Toward Sustainable PLA-Based Multilayer Complexes with Improved Barrier Properties

2019

Poly(lactic acid) or PLA is currently considered as one of the most promising substitutes of conventional plastics, with low environmental impact, especially for food packaging applications. Nevertheless, some drawbacks, such as high permeability to oxygen, are still limiting its industrial applications. The objective of this study was to highly increase the oxygen barrier performance of PLA without compromising its sustainable nature and following the principles of circular economy perspective. Coproducts coming from mill industries, such as wheat gluten proteins (WG), were used to produce PLA-WG-PLA multilayer complexes with improved barrier performance. Different technologies of industri…

THE STRUCTURE OF SOIL CADASTRE. A MODEL OF SOIL INVENTORY FOR ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND TAXATION PURPOSES IN A GLOBALISED MARKET

2018

The author shows the development of a structure, derived from the processing and integration of Ground Cadastre, where all soil characteristics are described. The soil is considered as divided according to the updated concept of cadastral parcel (soil and topographic uniformity of ownership and municipality). The land use is also assessed with reference to sustainability, taxation and environmental risk prevention. The structure of Soil Cadastre can contribute to the bureaucratic simplification of agricultural policies and environmental emergencies, as well as product presentation and traceability. Through the updating of some characteristics by professionals, the cadastre can become eviden…
