Governance della crisi e importanza del territorio per lo sviluppo regionale

2012

The aim of this paper is a reflection on the role of space in the processes of economic change. Starting in the United States the financial and economic crisis infected Europe after 2007. A wider debate on the current differential role of governments in the U.S. and Europe in addressing the crisis has emerged. The bailout programs in the U.S. have made reference to a unitary and homogeneous reference frame in the presence of a central bank whose broad mandate includes development goals. Europe, instead, has shown a different scenario and the same financial integration project depends on the complex relationship between individuals and the community, national sovereignty and increasingly bin…

Sport organizations and crime: indissoluble binomial? A sociological and economic analysis for possible solutions

2011

The fundamental principles which should guide the activities of football teams are contaminated by criminal phenomena that produce, as the main effect, the loss of confidence from the fans. The reasons of the crisis of credibility in the sports organizations are both economic and social. This seems paradoxical in light of the circumstances under which: under the social profile has demonstrated a negative correlation between sport and widespread crime; under economic profile, the soccer is the one sport that is characterized by consistent and staggering increases in turnover. Modern society facilitates the scenario described above, because it is fragmented and characterized by dynamic proces…

SNP and SML estimation of univariate and bivariate binary–choice models

2008

We discuss the semi-nonparametric approach of Gallant and Nychka (1987, Econometrica 55: 363–390), the semiparametric maximum likelihood approach of Klein and Spady (1993, Econometrica 61: 387–421), and a set of new Stata commands for semiparametric estimation of three binary-choice models. The first is a univariate model, while the second and the third are bivariate models without and with sample selection, respectively. The proposed estimators are root-n consistent and asymptotically normal for the model parameters of interest under weak assumptions on the distribution of the underlying error terms. Our Monte Carlo simulations suggest that the efficiency losses of the semi-nonparametric a…

Il dynamic business model: una prospettiva dinamica per la progettazione dei modelli di business

2017

Building on the extant literature on business modelling and focussing on start-up firms, this article aims at exploring the combination between conventional business model schemes and System Dynamics methodology with the intent to overcome those limitations related to a static design approach. By mapping the multiple key elements underlying value creation processes – linked according to a cause-and-effect perspective – and with the support of a simulation-based methodology, entrepreneurs may experiment and understand how the firm reacts to strategic and organizational changes in terms of performance, innovation and value creation.

The Role of Leadership in Complex Strategic Networks: Enabling Effect Versus Emergence

2013

In today's knowledge-based economy, the sources of competitive advantage lie more and more in webs of interactions among a variety of actors (such as firms, universities, research organizations, government institutions and so on), that over time originate the emergence of strategic networks. The paper aims to shed light on the determinants of network interaction and the ensuing processes of knowledge and resource transfer and circulation, on which the networkbased sources of competitive advantage are rooted. Accordingly, by means of the adoption of the complexity system perspective, on the one hand, we underscore the emergent nature of network interactions stemming from the self-organizing …
