Latent measles virus infection in Vero cells depending on a temperature-sensitive phenomenon.

A latent infection by measles virus in a line of Vero cells could be maintained only at 37 degrees C. The conditions of temperature nonpermissiveness were associated with some block in virus production and/or release and with the establishment of an autointerference phenomenon. Reduction of the incubation temperature to 33.5 degrees C induced a rather rapid transition from the latent to a lytical infection with a recue of virus. The rescued virus exhibited a restricted capacity to grow at 37 degrees C.

Genetic and environmental effects on body mass index during adolescence: a prospective study among Finnish twins

Objective: To study genetic and environmental factors affecting body mass index (BMI) and BMI phenotypic correlations across adolescence. Design: Prospective, population-based, twin cohort study. Participants and methods: We used twin modeling in 2413 monozygotic and same-sex and opposite-sex dizygotic Finnish twin pairs born in 1983–1987 and assessed using self-report questionnaires at 11–12, 14 and 17 years of age. Results: Heritability of BMI was estimated to be 0.58–0.69 among 11–12- and 14-year-old boys and girls, 0.83 among 17-year-old boys and 0.74 among 17-year-old girls. First, to investigate physiological adaptations to concurrent endurance and strength training performed in the same session with different exercise orders (i.e. commencing training with endurance or strength, respectively; E+S vs. S+E) in previously untrained men (n=42) (study 1). International audience; This paper develops the relationship between Hicks’s and Keynes’s writings on the theory of the term structure of interest rates, and shows in detail how Hicks built on and extended Keynes’s account. According to this theory, the level of the long-term interest rate is determined by expectations of future short-term rates. Keynes’s thinking contained several notions – such as the preferred habitat of lenders, the theory of forward markets, and risk-premiums – which Hicks used to give a more complete theory of the term structure of interest rates. Krūts vēža attīstība Latvijā pēc valsts krūts vēža skrīninga programmas ieviešanas

Latvijā sieviešu saslimstība un mirstība no krūts vēža ieņem pirmo vietu starp visiem ļaundabīgiem audzējiem. Katru gadu saslimšana tiek pirmreizēji reģistrēta aptuveni 1100 pacientēm un ikgadu no krūts vēža mirst vairāk nekā 400 sievietes. Kopš 2009. gadā Latvijā darbojas valsts krūts vēža skrīnings ar mērķi uzlabot krūts vēža agrīnu diagnostiku, tomēr vidēji 32 % gadījumos krūts vēzis tiek diagnosticēts novēloti slimības III un IV stadijā (SPKC, 2017). Darba tēma ir aktuāla un darba rezultāti ļauj sniegt rekomendācijas agrīnas diagnostikas uzlabošanai un skrīninga programmas uzlabošanai.
