Currency unions and trade : what is the impact of the euro on trade in the euro area?

The aim of this study is to estimate the effect of the euro on trade within the euro area. This has been a relevant question for European politicians ever since the launch of the common currency was agreed on in the Maastricht Treaty in 1992. To analyse the topic the gravity model of international trade augmented with several dummy variables is employed using panel data of 29 developed countries between 1995 and 2010. The estimated aggregate trade effect on the euro zone reaches 10 % in the most preferred regression and is comparable with earlier estimates. Identifying factors that drive infection dynamics in reservoir host populations is essential in understanding human risk from wildlife-originated zoonoses. We studied zoonotic Puumala orthohantavirus (PUUV) in the host, the bank vole ( Myodes glareolus ), populations in relation to the host population, rodent and predator community and environment-related factors and whether these processes are translated into human infection incidence. Quarkonium suppression in heavy-ion collisions: an open quantum system approach

We address the evolution of heavy-quarkonium states in an expanding quark-gluon plasma by implementing effective field theory techniques in the framework of open quantum systems. In this setting we compute the nuclear modification factors for quarkonia that are $S$-wave Coulombic bound states in a strongly-coupled quark-gluon plasma. The calculation is performed at an accuracy that is leading-order in the heavy-quark density expansion and next-to-leading order in the multipole expansion. The quarkonium density-matrix evolution equations can be written in the Lindblad form, and, hence, they account for both dissociation and recombination. Event-by-event picture for the medium-induced jet evolution

We discuss the evolution of an energetic jet which propagates through a dense quark-gluon plasma and radiates gluons due to its interactions with the medium. Within perturbative QCD, this evolution can be described as a stochastic branching process, that we have managed to solve exactly. We present exact, analytic, results for the gluon spectrum (the average gluon distribution) and for the higher n-point functions, which describe correlations and fluctuations. Using these results, we construct the event-by-event picture of the gluon distribution produced via medium-induced gluon branching. Abstract Background In Europe, increases in HCV infection have been observed over the last two decades in MSM, making them a key population for recently acquired HCV.
