The effect of marketing communication on business relationship loyalty
2017
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to create a new understanding of industrial business-to-business (B2B) relationships by connecting the theoretical streams of marketing communications and relationship marketing. This study tests how various marketing communication channels and communication quality increase the transformation of customer-perceived value into customer loyalty. Design/methodology/approach The theoretical framework consists of links between customer-perceived value, marketing communication quality, channel effectiveness, and customer loyalty. The age of the business relationship is also taken into consideration. Empirical testing is based on global survey data (n=121) col…
Bayesian methods in cost-effectiveness studies: objectivity, computation and other relevant aspects.
2009
In a probabilistic sensitivity analysis (PSA) of a cost-effectiveness (CE) study, the unknown parameters are considered as random variables. A crucial question is what probabilistic distribution is suitable for synthesizing the available information (mainly data from clinical trials) about these parameters. In this context, the important role of Bayesian methodology has been recognized, where the parameters are of a random nature. We explore, in the context of CE analyses, how formal objective Bayesian methods can be implemented. We fully illustrate the methodology using two CE problems that frequently appear in the CE literature. The results are compared with those obtained with other popu…
The Experimental Validation of a New Thermodynamic Method for TDC Determination
2007
In-cylinder pressure analysis is becoming more and more important both for research and development purpose and for control and diagnosis of internal combustion engines; directly measured by means of a combustion chamber pressure transducers or evaluated by analysing instantaneous engine speed [1,2,3,4], incylinder pressure allows the evaluation of indicated mean effective pressure (IMEP), combustion heat release, combustion phase, friction pressure, etc...It is well known to internal combustion engine researchers that for a right evaluation of these quantities the exact determination of Top Dead Centre (TDC) is of vital importance: a 1° error on TDC determination can lead to evaluation err…
Trends of Organic Electrosynthesis by Using Boron-Doped Diamond Electrodes
2019
The electro-organic synthesis is currently experiencing a renaissance due to the tremendous contributions of various electrocatalytic materials as well as the use of electric current as an inexpensive and suitable reagent to drive the electrosynthetic transformations, avoiding conventional chemical oxidizers or reducing agents. Consequently, electrosynthesis has a significant technical impact, because these processes can be easily scaled up, benefiting from advantages such as versatility, environmental compatibility (possibility of recovering and recycling non-converted substrates), automation (switching on or off electric current), inherent safety and potential cost effectiveness among oth…
Photoluminescence study of excitons in homoepitaxial GaN
2001
High-resolution photoluminescence spectra have been measured in high-quality homoepitaxial GaN grown on a free-standing GaN substrate with lower residual strain than in previous work. Unusually strong and well-resolved excitonic lines were observed. Based on free- and bound exciton transitions some important GaN parameters are derived. The Arrhenius plot of the free A exciton recombination yields a binding energy of 24.7 meV. Based on this datum, an accurate value for the band-gap energy, EG(4.3 K) = 3.506 eV, can be given. From the donor bound excitons and their “two-electron” satellites, the exciton localization energy and donor ionization energy are deduced. Finally, estimates of the ele…
Series expansion for the effective conductivity of a periodic dilute composite with thermal resistance at the two-phase interface
2019
We study the asymptotic behavior of the effective thermal conductivity of a periodic two-phase dilute composite obtained by introducing into an infinite homogeneous matrix a periodic set of inclusions of a different material, each of them of size proportional to a positive parameter ?. We assume that the normal component of the heat flux is continuous at the two-phase interface, while we impose that the temperature field displays a jump proportional to the normal heat flux. For ? small, we prove that the effective conductivity can be represented as a convergent power series in ? and we determine the coefficients in terms of the solutions of explicit systems of integral equations.
Impact of hydrothermal ageing on the thermal stability, morphology and viscoelastic performance of PLA/sisal biocomposites
2016
The influence of the combined exposure to water and temperature on the behaviour of polylactide/sisal biocomposites coupled with maleic acid anhydride was assessed through accelerated hydrothermal ageing. The biocomposites were immersed in water at temperatures from 65 to 85 °C, between the glass transition and cold crystallisation of the PLA matrix. The results showed that the most influent factor for water absorption was the percentage of fibres, followed by the presence of coupling agent, whereas the effect of the temperature was not significant. Deep assessment was devoted to biocomposites subjected to hydrothermal ageing at 85 °C, since it represents the extreme degrading condition. Th…
Cost-Effectiveness of Pneumococcal Vaccination of Older People: A Study in 5 Western European Countries
1999
Pneumococcal vaccination of older persons is thought to be cost-effective in preventing pneumococcal pneumonia, but evidence of clinical protection is uncertain. Because there is better evidence of vaccination effectiveness against invasive pneumococcal disease, we determined the cost-effectiveness of pneumococcal vaccination of persons agedor =65 years in preventing hospital admission for both invasive pneumococcal disease and pneumococcal pneumonia in 5 western European countries. In the base case analyses, the cost-effectiveness ratios for preventing invasive disease varied from approximately 11,000 to approximately 33,000 European currency units (ecu) per quality-adjusted life year (QAL…
Is ex‐ante ex‐post analysis irrelevant to Keynes's theory of employment?
2004
Ex‐ante ex‐post analysis has become a standard tool in macroeconomics. Yet Keynes dismissed it. We argue that Keynes's dismissal of ex‐ante ex‐post analysis is not an oddity but an indication of the originality of his theory of employment compared to standard macroeconomics. First, the principle of effective demand does not amount to a process that determines employment and income at the point of intersection of the traditionally defined ex ante supply and demand functions. Second, the finance motive allowed Keynes to confirm the identity of aggregate supply and demand already asserted in The General Theory. This latter conclusion is puzzling, however, since the principle of effective deman…
The implementation of mindfulness in healthcare Systems: a theoretical analysis
2014
Abstract Objective Evidence regarding the efficacy of mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) is increasing exponentially; however, there are still challenges to their integration in healthcare systems. Our goal is to provide a conceptual framework that addresses these challenges in order to bring about scholarly dialog and support health managers and practitioners with the implementation of MBIs in healthcare. Method This is an opinative narrative review based on theoretical and empirical data that address key issues in the implementation of mindfulness in healthcare systems, such as the training of professionals, funding and costs of interventions, cost effectiveness and innovative deliver…
