An embedded datalogger with a fast acquisition rate for in-vehicle testing and monitoring

A very compact and high performance datalogger for automotive in-vehicle testing is here described. The small logger dimensions and the availability of a CAN interface allows to easily implement multiple and distributed acquisition schemes, very challenging with traditional instrumentation. High acquisition rate, up to 100 Ksps/ch, and low cost was obtained through a very accurate hardware and software design.

This work investigates how farmers??? attitudes influence their decision to participate in some particular forms of civic agriculture, namely farmers' markets (conventional or organic), solidarity purchase groups, direct selling and box schemes. The support localization property of the strongly embedded subspaces of banach function spaces

[EN] Motivated by the well known Kadec-Pelczynski disjointifcation theorem, we undertake an analysis of the supports of non-zero functions in strongly embedded subspaces of Banach functions spaces. The main aim is to isolate those properties that bring additional information on strongly embedded subspaces. This is the case of the support localization property, which is a necessary condition fulflled by all strongly embedded subspaces. Several examples that involve Rademacher functions, the Volterra operator, Lorentz spaces or Orlicz spaces are provided.

On-body to on-body channel characterization

Interest in on-body communication channels is growing as the use of wireless devices increases in medical, consumer and military sensor applications. This paper presents an experimental investigation and analysis of the narrowband on-body propagation channel. This analysis considers each of the factors affecting the channel during a range of stationary and motion activities in different environments with actual wireless mote devices on the body. Recent advances in molecular biology methods have significantly increased the ability to detect genetic variation at the genomic level for forensic purposes. However, the quality requirements for blood, fresh or frozen tissue as a source of DNA are a practical limitation for typing the victim in order to conduct investigations on unsolved cases. Since paraffin embedded specimens are easily obtainable the ability to study this material would be of great value in current forensic practice.

Food community networks as leverage for social embeddedness

Social embeddedness, defined as the interaction of economic activities and social behavior, is used in this study as a conceptual tool to describe the growing phenomenon of food community networks (FCNs). The aim in this paper was to map the system of relations which the FCNs develop both inside and outside the network and, from the number of relations, it was inferred the influence of each FCN upon the formation of new socially embedded economic realities.
