Mens sana in corpore exhausto. Emociones y gestión de sí en escuelas secundarias del sur global

2020

In recent years, emotional education has become a central element in a series of guidelines on a global scale that have been translated into various state initiatives aimed at education. Thus, Mens sana in corpore exhausto proposes to demonstrate the tension that is expressed between the growing series of discourses on emotional education and the school climate and the exhaustive bodies of teachers and directors of public secondary schools in the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires (RMBA). By way of hypothesis, these policies are considered to work on the bodies of teachers and directors, encouraging them to continue and not stop under the logic of management and self-management that throw …

Using Focus Group in the Development of UNIPA Emotional Autonomy Inventory

2016

Adolescents' Emotional Autonomy from Parents A relevant tenet in developmental psychology is that adolescents are expected to achieve an autonomous functioning, independent from parents, to become reliant on their internal resources and responsible for their actions and decisions. Within this framework, emotional autonomy reflects the affective side of the largest process by which a young person acquires a more mature identity. It emerges when adolescents are capable to abandon dependence on parents and to individuate from them. Moreover, emotional autonomy implies a shift towards a less idealized conception of parental figures, the development of a more complex consideration of them as peo…

Evidence of the origin of specific spontaneous head turns during intertrial intervals.

1997

Direction and the frequency of spontaneous head movements during the ITIs following forward and backward paired trials were compared to an acquisition of a conditioned orienting (alpha) response directed to the side of the tone source. The head movements were analyzed from video recordings using classification of head turns to preferred and to nonpreferred directions. The results showed a significant increase in the alpha responses during the forward paired conditioning to the preferred direction and rapid extinction during the subsequent backward conditioning sessions. Spontaneous head movements during the ITIs increased to the same preferred direction as the conditioned alpha responses. T…

Coordinated Interpersonal Behaviour in Collective Dance Improvisation: The Aesthetics of Kinaesthetic Togetherness

2018

International audience; Collective dance improvisation (e.g., traditional and social dancing, contact improvisation) is a participatory, relational and embodied art form which eschews standard concepts in aesthetics. We present our ongoing research into the mechanisms underlying the lived experience of "togetherness" associated with such practices. Togetherness in collective dance improvisation is kinaesthetic (based on movement and its perception), and so can be simultaneously addressed from the perspective of the performers and the spectators, and be measured. We utilise these multiple levels of description: the first-person, phenomenological level of personal experiences, the third-perso…

Las representaciones del saber académico: Aportaciones desde la Geografía Escolar

2019

When we talk with basic education´s teachers there is an impression in the case of learning Social Sciences, and Geography in particular that these sciences are not useful for the explanation of socio-environmental and daily problems. In this research, improvement proposals are sought so that students are motivated to learn about these problems. Based on two case studies such as flood risks (and their relationship with climate change) and the problems of the rural areas, the possibilities of combining motivation for learning close to personal emotions and with their own rigor have been explored of the conceptual explanation. To validate these results, quantitative and qualitative research t…

Adopting the Emotions Course in the Italian context: A pilot study to test effects on social-emotional competence in preschool children.

2016

The purpose of this study was to adopt the Emotions Course (EC) in the Italian context and to examine preliminarily its effectiveness in accelerating the social-emotional competence and reducing maladaptive behaviors in preschool children. The study involved 143 children (73 males and 70 females) aged 3–5 years (M = 4.4 years, SD = .74), divided into two groups: 1) an experimental group (N = 69; 34 males and 35 females), consisting of classes in which teachers realized the EC, integrating it in their usual educational plan; 2) a control group (N = 74; 39 males and 35 females), consisting of classes in which teachers exclusively followed their usual educational plan that did not include the …

Krāsu un emociju attiecības vizuālajā komunikācijā: dažādu vecumposmu salīdzinoša analīze

2017

A New, Better BET: Rescuing and Revising Basic Emotion Theory

2018

Basic Emotion Theory, or BET, has dominated the affective sciences for decades (Ekman, 1972, 1992, 1999; Ekman and Davidson, 1994; Griffiths, 2013; Scarantino and Griffiths, 2011). It has been highly influential, driving a number of empirical lines of research (e.g., in the context of facial expression detection, neuroimaging studies and evolutionary psychology). Nevertheless, BET has been criticized by philosophers, leading to calls for it to be jettisoned entirely (Colombetti, 2014; Hufendiek, 2016). This paper defuses those criticisms. In addition, it shows that we have good reason to retain BET. Finally, it reviews and puts to rest worries that BET's commitment to affect programs render…
