Theoretical review of emotional intelligence: models and measuring instruments
2013
Abstract This theoretical review of emotional intelligence (EI) starts from the earliest conceptualizations made by Galton, Binet, Stemberg Thurstone and Thordinke Gardner, who, during their historical period, were successful in laying the basis for the birth of emotional intelligence as a theoretical construction which was introduced for the first time, in scientific literature, in 90’s. Since then, different EI models have been developed and investigative contributions have been increased. In this article, the most representative EI models will be described with details, such as: 1) Mental ability model (Ability Based) developed by Mayer and Salovey 2) Model of emotional competences by Go…

EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING IN SCHOOLS
2018
The goal of the paper was to research the emotional well-being of students, teachers, and factors that impact it using quantitative research methods. Research was a case study and reflects a situation in one particular school. Emotional well-being plays an important role in personality development. Presence or absence of emotions like joy, satisfaction, trust, and reliance determines the perception, thinking, and actions of students. Positive emotions cause energetic and functional mobilization of the central nervous system and the whole human organism, promotes purposeful actions by connecting cognitive processes with fulfillment of student’s current needs. Emotions either enable or disabl…
Explaining the enjoyment of negative emotions evoked by the arts : the need to consider empathy and other underlying mechanisms of emotion induction
2017
Any model aiming to explain the enjoyment of negative emotions in the context of the arts should consider how works of art are able to induce emotional responses in the first place. For instance, research on empathy and the arts suggests that the psychological processes that mediate the enjoyment of sadness and horror may be fundamentally different. peerReviewed
2023
Emotions are experiences that connect us to others in deep and meaningful ways, however, there is something about them that makes them, at the same time, the most intimate of our experiences. The way in which I understand the latter departs from the notions of privacy or interiority which are central to the debate on the asymmetry between the first and the third person. The notion of intimacy to which I allude here is linked, rather, to the experience of being vulnerable. As is well known, we can only feel an emotion for something we care about and, in this sense, every emotional experience is an experience in which we are exposed, that is, in which there is something at stake for us. From …

Neurophysiological markers of subjective memory complaints in healthy people
2022
