Imagebildung und Vertrauenserweckung durch lexikalische Besonderheiten in Werbeanzeigen von Banken und Finanzinstituten

2018

The objective of this paper is an analysis of idiomatic expressions and their modifications in press advertisements of banks and financial institutions. In particular, the most important forms of traditional idiomatic expressions and their modifications have been analyzed here. The paper aims at presenting the similarities and differences in the use of idiomatic expressions in press advertisements of the banking sector services in the neighbouring languages of advertisements. The main part of the paper comprises 100 press advertisements (50 German and 50 Polish advertise-ments) in which 147 examples of idiomatic expressions used in German advertisements and 87 examples of idiomatic expressi…

Frazeologizmy v demotivatorah

2008

The article presents new compound words, which are frequently a verbal component of internet polycode texts, i.e. demotivators. Demotivators, i.e. pictures combining graphics or photo and ironie commentary, were at first a response to motivational posters, whose task was to encourage people to work or learn. In the virtual world demotivators comment on current events or mock everyday nonsense. They are such a solidified genre that some of the commentaries used in demotivators can be perceived as phraseological neologisms.

Focusing on Ciona intestinalis (Tunicata) innate immune system. Evolutionary implications

2009

Phylogenetic analyses based on molecular data provide compelling evidence that ascidians are of critical importance for studying chordate immune system evolution. The Ciona intestinalis draft genome sequence allows searches for phylogenetic relationships, gene cloning and expression of immunorelevant molecules. Acidians lack of the pivotal components of the vertebrate recombinatory adaptive immunity, i.e., MHC, TCRs and dimeric immunoglobulins. However, bioinformatic sequence analyses recognized genic elements indicating the essential features of the Ig superfamily and ancestor proto-MHC genes, suggesting a primitive pre-duplication and pre-recombination status. C. intestinalis genes for in…

RNA Sequencing of Human Peripheral Blood Cells Indicates Upregulation of Immune-Related Genes in Huntington's Disease

2020

Huntington's disease (HD) is an autosomal dominantly inherited neurodegenerative disorder caused by a trinucleotide repeat expansion in the Huntingtin gene. As disease-modifying therapies for HD are being developed, peripheral blood cells may be used to indicate disease progression and to monitor treatment response. In order to investigate whether gene expression changes can be found in the blood of individuals with HD that distinguish them from healthy controls, we performed transcriptome analysis by next-generation sequencing (RNA-seq). We detected a gene expression signature consistent with dysregulation of immune-related functions and inflammatory response in peripheral blood from HD ca…

Iron Induces Proliferation and Morphogenesis in Primmorphs from the Marine SpongeSuberites domuncula

2002

Dissociated cells from marine demosponges retain their proliferation capacity if they are allowed to form special aggregates, the primmorphs. On the basis of incorporation studies and septin gene expression, we show that Fe3+ ions are required for the proliferation of cells in primmorphs from Suberites domuncula. In parallel, Fe3+ induced the expression of ferritin and strongly stimulated the synthesis of spicules. This result is supported by the finding that the enzymatic activity of silicatein, converting organosilicon to silicic acid, depends on Fe3+. Moreover, the expression of a scavenger receptor molecule, possibly involved in the morphology of spicules, depends on the presence of Fe3…

The fnr Gene of Bacillus licheniformis and the Cysteine Ligands of the C-Terminal FeS Cluster

1998

Many of the O2-responsive gene regulators of bacteria are members of the fumarate nitrate reductase-cyclic AMP receptor protein family of transcriptional regulators (12, 13, 15, 17) with predicted structures similar to those of the cyclic AMP receptor protein (11). The Fnr (stands for fumarate nitrate reductase regulator) protein from Escherichia coli (FnrEc) controls the expression of a variety of genes, mainly of anaerobic respiration and metabolism (5, 13). It contains a N-terminal cluster of three essential cysteine residues which are supposed to bind together with Cys122 a [4Fe 4S]2+ cluster which is required for O2 sensing (4, 7, 8, 10, 16). A wide variety of gram-negative bacteria co…

Defective copper transport in the copt5 mutant affects cadmium tolerance.

2014

Cadmium toxicity interferes with essential metal homeostasis, which is a problem for both plant nutrition and the consumption of healthy food by humans. Copper uptake is performed by the members of the Arabidopsis high affinity copper transporter (COPT) family. One of the members, COPT5, is involved in copper recycling from the vacuole toward the cytosolic compartment. We show herein that copt5 mutants are more sensitive to cadmium stress than wild-type plants, as indicated by reduced growth. Exacerbated cadmium toxicity in copt5 mutants is due specifically to altered copper traffic through the COPT5 transporter. Three different processes which have been shown to affect cadmium tolerance ar…

Alcohol Abuse Mediates the Association between Baseline T/C Ratio and Anger Expression in Intimate Partner Violence Perpetrators.

2015

The imbalance between testosterone (T) and cortisol (C) levels has been proposed as a possible marker of risk for intimate partner violence (IPV). Moreover, it could be related to a high probability of adopting risky behaviors such as alcohol abuse which, in turn, promotes the onset of IPV. This study tested the potential mediating effect of alcohol consumption on the relationship between baseline T/C ratio and anger expression in IPV perpetrators and non-violent controls. Alcohol consumption was higher in the former than controls. A high baseline T/C ratio was only associated with high anger expression in IPV perpetrators, and this association was mediated by high alcohol consumption. Thus…

Cell and molecular response to IORT treatment

2014

Ionizing radiations (IRs) generated by intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) treatment activates both pro- and antiproliferative signal pathways producing an imbalance in cell fate decision regulated by several genes and factors involved in cell cycle progression, survival and/or cell death, DNA repair and inflammation. This paper describes the latest advances on cellular and molecular response to IR, highlighting the most relevant research data from cell biology, gene expression profiling and epigenetic studies on different tumor cell types. Understanding the cell molecular strategies to choose between death and survival, after an irradiation-induced damage, opens new avenues for the selectio…

Varhaisnuorten emootiot suoriutumistilanteissa : taitotasoltaan erilaisten kuudesluokkalaisten perustunteiden tunnistaminen objektiivisesti ja subjek…

2017

Tässä tutkimuksessa on tarkasteltu varhaisnuorten tunteiden tunnistamista suoriutumistilanteissa. Subjektiivisesti ja objektiivisesti mitattujen tunteiden vastaavuuksia tarkasteltiin ottaen huomioon tehtävien vaikeustaso ja esittämisjärjestys, oppilaan kognitiivinen kykytaso, ylivilkkauden pulmat sekä tunteiden huippuhetket ja aallonpohjat. Tutkimus on toteutettu osana syksyllä 2013 käynnistynyttä TIKAPUU – Alakoulusta yläkouluun – tutkimushanketta, johon osallistuu 55 koululuokkaa kahdesta Keski-Suomen kunnasta. Tutkimuksen aineisto (n = 154) koostuu yksilötutkimuksiin osallistuneista nuorista, joiden kasvonilmeitä mitattiin FaceReader-ohjelman avulla heidän tehdessään yleisen päättelyn te…
