Effects of power resistance training program with elastic bands on body composition, muscle strength and physical function in older women

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of a power-strength resistance program with elastic bands on body composition, physical function, and muscle strength in older women. For such purpose, a randomized controlled trial with a pre-post-intervention design was conducted. Thus, 58 healthy, physically independent, sedentary women, aged 65-85 years, were randomly allocated to the intervention (n = 28) or control group (n = 30). Innovación pedagógica en educación física: una propuesta de orientación basada en AICLE

In today's society, languages, especially English language, have acquired great relevance due to the unstoppable process of globalization. Schools must adapt to these kind of social demands. Because of this fact, methodologies such as Content Led Integrated Language Learning (CLIL) are being used more and more often. Here a didactic unit for working orienteering by using CLIL is proposed in order to demonstrate that Physical Education (PE) provides a suitable context in which the use of the language is significant and relevant. Through this proposal, it is shown the great potential of PE to enhance language learning.

Experimental verification of position-dependent angular-momentum selection rules for absorption of twisted light by a bound electron

We analyze the multipole excitation of atoms with twisted light, i.e., by a vortex light field that carries orbital angular momentum. A single trapped $^{40}$Ca$^+$ ion serves as a localized and positioned probe of the exciting field. We drive the $S_{1/2} \to D_{5/2}$ transition and observe the relative strengths of different transitions, depending on the ion's transversal position with respect to the center of the vortex light field. On the other hand, transition amplitudes are calculated for a twisted light field in form of a Bessel beam, a Bessel-Gauss and a Gauss-Laguerre mode. High‐nuclearity mixed‐valence magnetic clusters : A general solution of the double exchange problem

We report here a general solution of the double‐exchange problem in the high‐nuclearity mixed valence systems containing arbitrary number P of the electrons delocalized over the network of N (P<N) localized spins. The developed approach is based on the successive (chainlike) spin‐coupling scheme and takes full advantage from the quantum angular momentum theory.
