The results of our clinical observations of 102 patients with chronic glomerulonephritis with normal renal function have shown that hyperkynureninemia in 22,5% of patients develops in cases of pyridoxal-5-phosphate deficiency (hyperkynureninemia after peroral L-tryptophan load), but in 14,8% of patients through the stimulation of the cellular immune system (hyperkynureninemia at fasting state, increase of serum neopterin concentration). Objective To preserve renal function, nephron sparing surgery (NSS) for renal tumors should be performed. Little is known about perioperative morbidity and long-term functional outcome of patients after elective NSS compared with radical nephrectomy (RN) in renal tumors >4 cm. We prove that characteristic Sturmian words are extremal for the Critical Factorization Theorem (CFT) in the following sense. If p x ( n ) denotes the local period of an infinite word x at point n , we prove that x is a characteristic Sturmian word if and only if p x ( n ) is smaller than or equal to n + 1 for all n ≥ 1 and it is equal to n + 1 for infinitely many integers n . We study the relationship between the multiplicity of a fixed point of a function g, and the dependence on epsilon of the length of epsilon-neighborhood of any orbit of g, tending to the fixed point. The relationship between these two notions was discovered before (Elezovic, Zubrinic, Zupanovic) in the differentiable case, and related to the box dimension of the orbit. Here, we generalize these results to non-differentiable cases introducing a new notion of critical Minkowski order.
