Determination of inorganic species of Sb and Te in cereals by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry

2011

A non-chromatographic fast, sensitive and easy method has been developed for the determination of Sb(III), Sb(V), Te(IV) and Te(VI) in cereal samples. The procedure is based on ultrasound assisted extraction and determination by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HG AFS). Preliminary studies were made in order to get the best extraction efficiency using 1 mol L-1 phosphoric acid, 1 mol L-1 nitric acid, aqua regia, 1 mol L-1 sulfuric acid and 6 mol L-1 hydrochloric acid. The extraction with aquaregia showed a clear interconversion of the species during the process, being H2SO4 the best extractant with efficiencies greater than 90% from the total content of Sb and Te quantif…

Generative Adversarial Networks in Cardiology

2021

A B S T R A C T Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) are state-of-the-art neural network models used to synthesize images and other data. GANs brought a considerable improvement to the quality of synthetic data, quickly becoming the standard for data generation tasks. In this work, we summarize the applications of GANs in the field of cardiology, including generation of realistic cardiac images, electrocardiography signals, and synthetic electronic health records. The utility of GAN-generated data is discussed with respect to research, clinical care, and academia. Moreover, we present illustrative examples of our GAN-generated cardiac magnetic resonance and echocardiography images, showin…

A Branch-Price-and-Cut Algorithm for the Min-Max k -Vehicle Windy Rural Postman Problem

2013

[EN] The min-max k -vehicles windy rural postman problem consists of minimizing the maximal distance traveled by a vehicle to find a set of balanced routes that jointly service all the required edges in a windy graph. This is a very difficult problem, for which a branch-and-cut algorithm has already been proposed, providing good results when the number of vehicles is small. In this article, we present a branch-price-and-cut method capable of obtaining optimal solutions for this problem when the number of vehicles is larger for the same set of required edges. Extensive computational results on instances from the literature are presented.

Diffractive optics for spectral tuning of second harmonic and supercontinuum generated in nonlinear crystals

2011

It is shown that diffractive lenses can tune the spectrum of femtosecond pulses after nonlinear optical processes. We focus on spectra of second-order pulses generated in birefringent crystals and supercontinuum in sapphire crystals. The tunability is achieved by changing the relative distance between the nonlinear crystal and the diffractive lens.

High-pressure phase ofLaPO4studied by x-ray diffraction and second harmonic generation

2016

The pressure-induced phase transition of monazite-type ${\mathrm{LaPO}}_{4}$ at $\ensuremath{\approx}26$ GPa is studied by single-crystal x-ray diffraction and second harmonic generation (SHG) up to 31 GPa. The structure of the postmonazite phase of ${\mathrm{LaPO}}_{4}$ has been obtained and it is shown that it corresponds to a post-barite-type structure with an acentric space group $P{2}_{1}{2}_{1}{2}_{1}$. A strong increase of the SHG signal at the transition confirms that the high-pressure polymorph is noncentrosymmetric. The phase transition involves a significant discontinuous decrease of the unit-cell volume by 6%, which is mainly due to a strong contraction of the $a$ lattice parame…

Dispersion Compensation in Holograms Reconstructed by Femtosecond Light Pulses

2014

This chapter describes how the spatiotemporal dispersion associated with the diffraction of broadband femtosecond light pulses through computer generated holograms (CGHs) can be compensated to a first order with a properly designed dispersion compensation module (DCM). The angular dispersion of the beam associated to CGHs leads to both spatial and temporal distortion of the pulse. Some experiments in one-shot second harmonic generation, wide-field two-photon microscopy, and parallel micromachining are shown to study the quality of the compensation performed with the DCM.

Investigation of AC Electrical Properties of MXene-PCL Nanocomposites for Application in Small and Medium Power Generation

2021

The paper examined Ti3C2Tx MXene (T—OH, Cl or F), which is prepared by etching a layered ternary carbide Ti3AlC2 (312 MAX-phase) precursor and deposited on a polycaprolactone (PCL) electrospun membrane (MXene-PCL nanocomposite). X-ray Diffraction analysis (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) indicates that the obtained material is pure Ti3C2 MXene. SEM of the PCL-MXene composite demonstrate random Ti3C2 distribution over the nanoporous membrane. Results of capacitance, inductance, and phase shift angle studies of the MXene-PCL nanocomposite are presented. It was found that the frequency dependence of the capacitance exhibited a clear sharp minima in the frequency range of 50 Hz to o…

Object tracking in medical imaging using a 2D active mesh system

2003

International audience; Abstract: This article proposes a technique for tracking moving organs in medical imaging. It can be split into two stages. We first initialize a 2D-triangular mesh on the first image of the sequence. We distinguish different objects of interest by grouping together the triangles that make them up. Afterwards, we deform this mesh on the successive images in order to track each identified object. The tracking stage uses optical flow by adding a node relaxation step to avoid mesh deteriorations. The mesh deformations analysis provides access to motion information along the sequence. This technique is applied to a cine-MRI sequences of the heart and allows the analysis …

Digital natives: Lucky or jellied?

2018

The technology now seems to have involved not only the world of adults, but also and especially that of children, becoming a form of communication and rapid interaction and widespread dissemination. Some parents start to worry about a possible technolog- ical dependency, given the hours spent by the youngest, called digital children, in front of computer, smartphones and tablets. A decade ago, the sociologist Mark Prensky spoke of digital natives, that is the first generation of children grew up with consoles, videogames and computers while today we are witnessing an evolution of this concept in the third generation of digital, appeared approximately with the arrival of iPad and tablet and …

Posługa Kościoła wobec młodzieży na przykładzie diecezji opolskiej

2019
