EPR dosimetry intercomparison using smart phone touch screen glass

International audience; This paper presents the results of an interlaboratory comparison of retrospective dosimetry using the electron paramagnetic resonance method. The test material used in this exercise was glass coming from the touch screens of smart phones that might be used as fortuitous dosimeters in a large-scale radiological incident. There were 13 participants to whom samples were dispatched, and 11 laboratories reported results. The participants received five calibration samples (0, 0.8, 2, 4, and 10 Gy) and four blindly irradiated samples (0, 0.9, 1.3, and 3.3 Gy). Third-harmonic generation in optical microfibers

We explain the relatively easy, wideband, THG conversion that we observe experimentally in silica glass microfibers by the tapering geometry. As a challenging perspective, we compare THG effective efficiencies in silica and tellurite glasses.

Scanning Tunneling Spectroscope Use in Electrocatalysis Testing

Development of economic MeV-ion microbeam technology at Chiang Mai University

Developing high technologies but in economic manners is necessary and also feasible for developing countries. At Chiang Mai University, Thailand, we have developed MeV-ion microbeam technology based on a 1.7-MV Tandetron tandem accelerator with our limited resources in a cost-effective manner. Instead of using expensive and technically complex electrostatic or magnetic quadrupole focusing lens systems, we have developed cheap MeV-ion microbeams using programmed L-shaped blade aperture and capillary techniques for MeV ion beam lithography or writing and mapping. Properties of EO Active Molecular Glasses Based on Indandione and Azobenzene Chromophores

Continuing previous research of EO active materials we have focused our attention on compounds employing two types of core nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores – indandione and azobenzene . Coupling of them with bulky triphenyl, pentafluorophenylmethoxy ester, benzyloxy ester molecular fragments, as anti-crystallization agents allows us to obtain amorphous materials for potential NLO applications.

Pēc Pasaules Veselības organizācijas datiem kopš pandēmijas sākuma kopējais ar Covid-19 saslimušo cilvēku skaits pārsniedz 500 miljonus. Mākslīgais intelekts (MI) paver plašas iespējas Covid-19 infekcijas izraisīto plaušu bojājumu diagnostikā, kas var uzlabot un atvieglojot radiologa darbu veicinot gan izmeklējuma specifitātes, gan sensitivitātes izvērtēšanas iespējas. Saturation and forward jets in proton-lead collisions at the LHC

2019

We investigate the forward-jet energy spectrum within the Color Glass Condensate framework at 5 TeV center-of-mass energy. In particular, we focus on the kinematic range covered by the CMS-CASTOR calorimeter. We show that our saturation-model calculations are compatible with the CASTOR measurements and that to optimally reproduce the data, effects of multi-parton interactions need to be included. We predict a significant nuclear suppression - reaching down to 50% at the lowest considered jet energies $E_{\rm jet} \sim 500 \, {\rm GeV}$.

Recykling odpadów z szyb samochodowych i szkła budowalnego z folią PVB

Dokonano analizy możliwości wykorzystania odpadów z szyb samochodowych klejonych oraz bezpiecznego szkła budowlanego z folią PVB. Aktualnie najczęściej stosowaną folią w szkle klejonym jest folia poliwinylobutyralu (PVB). Niniejsza praca przedstawia analizę możliwości odzyskania surowców w postaci folii PVB i szkła z odpadów szyb klejonych. Analizowana metoda polega na rozpuszczeniu folii PVB oraz separacji folii od kawałków szkła. Przedstawiono również możliwości zastosowania rozpuszczonej folii PVB, a szkła jako wsadu surowcowego w hutach szkła.

Optical Absorption of Excimer Laser‐Induced Dichlorine Monoxide in Silica Glass and Excitation of Singlet Oxygen Luminescence by Energy Transfer from…

An optical absorption (OA) band of interstitial dichlorine monoxide molecules with peak at 4.7 eV and halfwidth 0.94 eV is identified in F2 laser - irradiated (photon energy=7.9 eV) synthetic silica glass bearing both interstitial O2 and Cl2 molecules. Alongside with intrinsic defects, this OA band can contribute to solarization of silica glasses produced from SiCl4. While the formation of ClClO is confirmed by its Raman signature, its structural isomer ClOCl may also contribute to this induced OA band. Thermal destruction of this band between 300C and 400C almost completely restores the pre-irradiation concentration of interstitial Cl2. An additional weak OA band at 3.5 eV is tentatively a…
