Purpose: The requirements of a business executive include the talent and creativity to solve problems and adapt to continuous changes presented by the economic and social environment. However, the university does not often prepare students in these skills. This research aims to understand the social, economic and political complexities that surround a learner’s access to higher education in South Africa. A method to transform a nonlocal model into a gradient one within elasticity and plasticity

Abstract A method based on the principle of the virtual power (PVP) is presented, by which a mechanical problem of nonlocal elasticity, or plasticity, is transformed into one of gradient nature. Different Taylor series expansion techniques are applied to the driving local strain fields of the nonlocal problem, either full spatial expansion within the bulk volume, or uni-directional expansion along the normal to the thin boundary layer. Explaining the Formation Rates of Post-Communist Interest Organizations: Density Dependence and Political Opportunity Structure

This article presents an analysis of the formation of organized interest groups in the post-communist context and organizational populations over time. We test two theories that shed doubt on whether vital rates of interest groups are explained by individual incentives, namely, the political opportunity structure and population ecology theory. Based on an analysis of the energy policy and higher education policy organizations active at the national level in Hungary, Poland, and Slovenia, we find that while the period of democratic and economic transition indeed opened up the opportunity structure for organizational formations, it by no means presented a clean slate. L'aprenentatge de la traducció a través de l'ús del port-folio: descripció de una experiència

En aquest treball es descriu una experiència pedagògica consistent en la introducció del *portafolio com a eina d'aprenentatge i avaluació en un curs universitari de traducció. La descripció es basa en dades arreplegades durant dos anys i en els resultats d'un qüestionari administrat als participants. Després d'una breu contextualització de l'experiència i la reflexió sobre els aspectes més rellevants del *portafolio per a l'ensenyament de la traducció, específicament en la universitat, s'ofereix una descripció exhaustiva dels efectes positius de la utilització de l'instrument en el curs. El treball acaba amb una valoració de l'experiència per part dels participants.

The pandemic crisis has accelerated the diffusion of learning environments characterized by the intensive use of technology. This novelty represents a transversal objective of the professionalization of the university teacher with a particular declination on the pedagogical-didactic-evaluation side as a strategic issue for the development of higher education. This paper presents the results of research conducted with 119 newly recruited university teachers and 20 Department Directors. The aim of the research was on the one hand to detect the perception of newly hired teachers related to their teaching metacognitive and evaluative skills with reference to distance learning to highlight specific characteristics that could have encouraged or hindered adaptation to this new condition. On the other hand through the qualitative research the aim has been to penetrate in depth the challenges posed by the digital revolution at University by carrying out 20 interviews with privileged witnesses who represent on the national scene agents of institutional change. The study aims to reflect on the training of future primary school teachers by starting from the use of the e-portfolio as an innovative tool to promote the acquisition of reflective and self-evaluation competence within the flipped classroom. The research involved 154 students of Primary Education Master’s Degree Course of the University of Palermo attending to the Docimology course during the academic year 2020/2021. This paper presents the theoretical assumptions objectives and operating methods of a path that made the use of the e-portfolio in flipped classroom to promote the development of docimological skills in higher education.
