Engaged managers are not workaholics: Evidence from a longitudinal personcentered analysis

2013

What does computer support for cooperative work mean? a structurational analysis of computer supported cooperative work

1992

Abstract Technical developments in electronic communication and computing coupled with new understanding of relationships between computers and work processes has given impetus to a significant amount of research in the area of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW). Much of this work, however, lacks strong theoretical foundations, and there is no clear definition of CSCW, the major research questions of the field, or appropriate strategies for research. In this paper we suggest Giddens' theory of structuration as a conceptual foundation for CSCW research and propose a formal definition for CSCW. We conclude by discussing seven implications of the framework for future research into: (a)…

The Dynamics of (De)Stigmatization : Boundary construction in the nascent category of organic farming

2020

This study finds that it is possible for organizations in emerging categories to resist stigmatization through discursive reconstruction of the central and distinctive characteristics of the category in question. We examined the emerging market of organic farming in Finland and discovered how resistance to stigmatization was both an internal and an external power struggle in the organic farming community. Over time, the label of organic farming was manipulated and the practice of farming was associated with more conventional and familiar contexts, while the stigma was diverted at the same time to biodynamic farming. We develop a process model for removal of stigma from a nascent category t…

Corporate entrepreneurship and human resource management: theoretical background and a case study

2011

Purpose: This article aims to review varying concepts of entrepreneurship and different contributions to human resource practices, establishing a theoretical framework that allows for the analysis of the firm Montalt-Valencia (Spain), a Ford-Spain car dealer, and leader in its sector. Design/methodology/approach: The paper, according to the literature, establishes a theoretical framework on entrepreneurship and human resource management through which one can observe and research the Montalt-Valencia case study. The case study is confirmatory, from the theoretical background, and at the same time inductive from the observation of its non-expected details and deeds. Findings: The firm Montalt…

Different innovation policies for different types of innovative companies? Social implications

2016

The literature on innovation and entrepreneurship policy has yet to deepen its analysis of Young Innovative Companies (YICs). To fill this gap in the literature, the aim of this study was to provide empirical evidence of the special features of YICs versus the full scope of innovative firms, within the context of innovation policy and social entrepreneurship. We carried out an initial diagnosis of the features that enable access to public innovation programs in the field of innovative companies. This study of innovative firms was then contrasted with analysis of samples comprising YICs. The results of this comparison show that YICs access innovation policies by virtue of their status as inn…
