Humour in EFL classrooms : a comparative case study between elementary and secondary school lessons
2014
Tutkimus on vertaileva, sillä tavoitteena on kuvailla oppilaiden luokka-asteen yhteyttä käytetyn huumorin määrään, huumorilajiin ja siihen onko huumori opettaja- vai oppilasaloitteista.

Interruptions in a political interview
2018
Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on lisätä tietoa poliittisissa haastatteluissa tapahtuvista haastattelijan tekemistä keskeytyksistä. Keskeytyksiä analysoidaan keskusteluanalyysin keinoin ja aineistona on kolme televisiohaastattelua. Haastattelut on litteroitu ja tutkimuksessani esittelen esimerkit niissä esiintyneistä keskeytystyypeistä. The aim of the study is to examine interruptions made by interviewers in political television interviews. Interruptions are analyzed using conversation analysis and the data consists of three interview videos.
Constructing knowledge : epistemic practices in three television interview genres
2011
This study analyses epistemic practices in broadcast television interviews, focusing on three different interview genres: celebrity interviews, sports interviews and political interviews. In the analysis I examine the linguistic and interactional practices that are used to construct knowledge in the interviews. These practices include mobilization of different types of knowledge, use of assessments to invite first-hand knowledge, negotiation of epistemic stances while disaligning with the question, and use of assessments for claiming or contesting epistemic rights to authority and expertise. The study comprises four articles and a summary. Article I focuses on celebrity interviews and analy…
Shared Situational Awareness in a Professional Soccer Team: An Explorative Analysis of Post-Performance Interviews
2020
Sport science research has done little to elaborate on the cognitive factors that turn a collection of individual players into a coordinated elite team. The purpose of this paper is to clarify if the players and coach of an elite soccer team express shared situational awareness. Ten players and one coach were exposed to twelve video pictures from a previous soccer match, and their statements for each picture were recorded and analyzed using a qualitative approach. Two of five game situations were with ball possession and three out of seven were without ball possession
Entrevistas de Recuerdo Estimulado: ¿Cómo la entrevista de investigación puede contribuir a nuevas prácticas terapéuticas? [Stimulated Recall Intervi…
2018
The subjective experiences of participants in couple therapy have been explored through Stimulated Recall Interviews (SRIs), in which both clients and therapists come individually to watch video clips of their therapy sessions. We believe SRIs offer a good resource for Practice Oriented Research (POR) by promoting meaningful, flexible interplay between scientific research and clinical practice. Team members have different roles, either as “insiders” or “outsiders” of the therapeutic setting. The potential benefits of these interviews are illustrated by a case study conducted within the Relational Mind research project, in which SRIs helped to promote the emergence of reflections. SRIs, hith…
MOHSEN EMADI – A POET OF EXILE
2019
"I’m from exile”. This is how a poet, a cosmopolitan, and a citizen of the world of poetry Mohsen Emadi describes himself. He writes poems on loss and displacement, charting his experiences of mobility. This essay is based on Emadi’s poems and biographical interviews with the poet. Quotes from the interviews and fragments of his poems are combined with theoretical reflections on diaspora, nomadism, and exile by researchers such as Edward Said and Rogers Brubaker. Following Emadi, I take a critical look at the concept of diaspora and discuss mobility and exile both as a forced condition and as a choice. The experiences of both voluntary and coerced mobility are considered from the perspecti…
Using schematic representation of resource systems to examine how first year engineering students use resources in their studies of mathematics
2018
International audience; Very little research has been done on how students use resources when studying mathematics. My project aim to examine this both quantitatively and qualitatively.
