Vacuum Suppression in Gain-tuned Continuous-Variable Quantum Teleportation of a Single Photon by Conditioning on Sender
2014
We experimentally demonstrate bolstering the strength of gain-tuned continuous variable quantum teleportation of a single photon by conditioning on the sender's measurement results to eliminate excess vacuum contamination in the output.
Memory-assisted long-distance phase-matching quantum key distribution
2019
We propose a scheme that generalizes the loss scaling properties of twin-field or phase-matching quantum key distribution (QKD) related to a channel of transmission $\eta_{total}$ from $\sqrt{\eta_{total}}$ to $\sqrt[2n]{\eta_{total}}$ by employing n-1 memory stations with spin qubits and n beam-splitter stations including optical detectors. Our scheme's resource states are similar to the coherent-state-based light-matter entangled states of a previous hybrid quantum repeater, but unlike the latter our scheme avoids the necessity of employing 2n-1 memory stations and writing the transmitted optical states into the matter memory qubits. The full scaling advantage of this memory-assisted phas…
Quantum repeaters and quantum key distribution: analysis of secret key rates
2012
We analyze various prominent quantum repeater protocols in the context of long-distance quantum key distribution. These protocols are the original quantum repeater proposal by Briegel, D\"ur, Cirac and Zoller, the so-called hybrid quantum repeater using optical coherent states dispersively interacting with atomic spin qubits, and the Duan-Lukin-Cirac-Zoller-type repeater using atomic ensembles together with linear optics and, in its most recent extension, heralded qubit amplifiers. For our analysis, we investigate the most important experimental parameters of every repeater component and find their minimally required values for obtaining a nonzero secret key. Additionally, we examine in det…
CSRZ-ASK and DPSK 40 Gb/s All-Raman WDM Transmission Based on UltraWave Fiber
2006
In this paper, we report a complete experimental and numerical analysis of 40 Gb/s WDM ultra long-haul (ULH) transmission using CSRZ-DPSK and CSRZ-ASK modulation formats on UltraWavetrade fiber spans. Experimental results compare well with full numerical simulations
Phytoseiid mites from the Basilicata region (Southern Italy): species diversity and redescription of Typhloseiulus arzakanicus (Arutunjan) with a key…
2017
A survey of phytoseiid mites was carried out in the Basilicata region (Southern Italy) between 1976 and 2014 on wild and cultivated plants. A total of 38 species belonging to eleven genera and two subgenera were found on 59 plant species. The most common species was Euseius finlandicus (Oudemans) (39%) followed by Typhlodromus (Typhlodromus) exhilaratus Ragusa (32.2%), Kampimodromus aberrans (Oudemans) (27.1%), Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) cryptus (Athias-Henriot) (23.7%). Typhloseiulus arzakanicus (Arutunjan), found for first time in Italy, is redescribed here, while the male of this species is described for the first time. A dichotomic key of the species belonging to the genus Typhloseiulus …
Les Marca (fin XVIIe - début XIXe siècles) : itinéraires et activités d'une dynastie de stucateurs piémontais en Franche-Comté et en Bourgogne
2013
The topic of this thesis is the Marca dynasty, a piedmontese family from the Valsesia area, specialized in the stucco work. In the early eighteenth century, some of its members migrated to the Franche-Comté in France, in search of work, the others remaining in Piedmont. Their realizations can be studied in religious places and private houses in Italy, in Franche-Comté and Burgundy. These works (altars, pulpits, statues and bas-reliefs in stucco) were created between the late seventeenth century and the early nineteenth century. This topic is entirely unpublished, especially as the information on this family are rare and scattered. Moreover, no research has been undertaken on it, neither in …
Modelling leaky photonic wires: a mode solver comparison
2006
We present results from a mode solver comparison held within the framework of the European COST P11 project. The structure modelled is a high-index contrast photonic wire in silicon-oninsulator subject to substrate leakage. The methods compared are both in-house developed and commercial, and range from effective index and perturbation methods, over finite-element and finite-difference codes, beam propagation methods, to film mode matching methods and plane wave expansion methods.
Mécanismes de résistance à l'apoptose induite par TRAIL dans les cellules cancéreuses : restauration de la sensibiltié à TRAIL par la chimiothérapie …
2010
The TNF-family member TRAIL (TNF-related apoptosis inducing ligand) is a cytokine involved in immune anti-tumour surveillance. TRAIL is one of the most promising agents currently under investigation, as it exhibits efficient anti-cancer cytotoxicity with limited side effects on healthy cells. The problem in current cancer therapy is that some cancer cells are already resistant, or can become resistant to TRAIL-induced cell death. The aim of my thesis was to study the mechanisms of resistance to TRAIL, and to find a way to bypass it. First, we were interested in the TRAIL-R4 antagonistic receptor, which is known to bind TRAIL without inducing a death signal. We have demonstrated for the firs…
Obraz schyłku epoki w powieści Ladislava Fuksa „Vévodkyně a kuchařka”
2017
Portrait of the end of an epoch in Ladislav Fuks’ novel Vevodkyně a kuchařka The subject of the article entitled ‘‘Portrait of the end of an epoch in Ladislav Fuks’ novel Vevodkyně a kuchařka” is the reflection on the last work of the novelist published in 1983. Apart from old age, which is the conference key matter and is considered mainly on the level of literary character in this case such strategy may be related to arepresentative of an aristocracy prince Leuchtenberg-Aulendorf, the author dedicates majority of attention to metaphorical understanding of this issue. For old age can refer to the decline of the ‘long’ 19th century, and the argumentation for such biological consideration of…
