Post-extraction mesio-distal gap reduction assessment by confocal laser scanning microscopy - a clinical 3-month follow-up study

[EN] AimThe aim of this 3-month follow-up study is to quantify the reduction in the mesio-distal gap dimension (MDGD) that occurs after tooth extraction through image analysis of three-dimensional images obtained with the confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) technique. Materials and MethodsFollowing tooth extraction, impressions of 79 patients 1month and 72 patients 3months after tooth extraction were obtained. Cast models were processed by CLSM, and MDGD changes between time points were measured. Graphic and metric archaeological documentation is an activity that requires the capture of information from different sources, accurate processing and comprehensive analysis. If monitoring of the state of conservation is required, this task has to be performed before intervention, during and after the completion of the works in a repetitive way. This paper presents the use of terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) in order to effectively produce, prior to intervention, accurate and high-resolution 3D models of a cave with engravings dating back to the Upper Palaeolithic era. The virtual reconstruction of temple B in Selinunte excavation site

This paper proposes a study on the virtual reconstruction of temple B in Selinunte. It is the smallest of Selinunte’s temples yet, despite its size, it has been the subject of great interest and debate by scholars since its discovery in 1823. The studies carried out throughout the XIX century and the first half of the XX century provided different renderings, especially as to the organization of the elevation. The case of study is the polychrome wooden ceiling in the “Magna” Hall of “Palazzo Steri”. Vision-based sensing algorithms are computationally-demanding tasks due to the large amount of data acquired and processed. Visual sensors deliver much information, even if data are redundant, and do not give any additional information. A Selective Change Driven (SCD) sensing system is based on a sensor that delivers, ordered by the magnitude of its change, only those pixels that have changed most since the last read-out.
